Celina will be going first in the Top Half of finals.  Silphur Springs or North Lamar will go last.    This has already been decided (if they are in top half after prelims) 

Sorry but I don’t want to get this mixed up in my head…schools like Celina or Davenport would go really early right? aka not as “good” of a draw?

It’s just school size, bands can have as many people as they want on the field. That’s why they have size classifications (1A, 2A, 3A 4A…) to make it “fair”

I saw someone mention something about 4A using the 7 judge system instead of the 5 judge system, but I can't find where that was. Anyone know for sure?

From UIL website. 4A went to the 7 judge system last year.

So based on this logic the bands performing first in prelims don’t even stand a chance to make finals?

Best draw is certainly a factor, but minimal at best.  Performance and cleanliness is still the end all be all of State placement.

Hey, I recently went to the Area E marching contest and saw Calallen and Davenport and they were both really good. I know that our Area is not super competitive, but do you think these bands have a chance for the top 5  at state finals?

It's hard to say top 5 before their State performances, but they both are on my list for top 10 finalists.

I don't want to be rude but Calallen was kind of robbed, i didn't think that Davenport lived up to Calallen's performance. Calallen deserves 1st in state in my humble opinion.

Calallen's show was really good, and their players are incredibly talented, but I think compared to how competitive 4a is this year (especially with the finalists from areas c and b), them getting 1st at state is stretched

I watched calallen and wasn't not impressed after witnessing the area c and b bands. If calallen can be argued to be better than I don't see them breaking top 7 at all. Those Area b and c babe l bands are coming in hotter than ever.

Calallen’s show was fire, and their talent is undeniable—sure, 4A is stacked this year, but let’s be real… if anyone’s taking that 1st place trophy, it’s going to be them. Guess we’ll see if the competition can keep up!  🤓☝️

Have you seen some of the top bands from other areas in person this year like Celina, Sulphur Springs, China Spring, Panther Creek, etc.? Noone "deserves" 1st in State until they pull off a stellar finals performance surpassing the others according to UIL's standards.

i searched up davenport highschool marching band 2024 into YouTube and it came up as the first option

(ps is there a lack of uploads for 4a marching shows this year because of confidentiality or is it because of stricter copyright regulations? I can’t find a lot of band shows.)
