LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Rules revised as of 7/1/05 by LordGiggles. Trivia Game Welcome to the first ever Texas Bands Trivia Game. This is a game where contestants will be asked several questions of trivia based on a certain topic in a series of rounds. Every round, contestants who do not answer the questions correctly, will be eliminated. The winner is the last one standing. All those who wish to compete, please post. I will only accept 10 members. How to play: Simple, I will post a question related to the topic for the game, and you guys answer. The topic for the game will be decided by me (It probably will not be Star Wars , for those groaning ) Now, once I post a question, you will have a designated time limit to answer it in. Most time limits will be 12 hours from when i first ask the question, so that anyone who is busy has time to comply. All answer must be PM'ed to me, and then you wait patiently for the time to expire. All answers are final, and no changes can be made. The first X amount of players for that round to get the answer right, win. If let's say for example, there are 10 players, I will decide only 6 advance. So the first 6 to answer correctly will advance. If only 5 answer correctly, and they are the final 5 to comply, they will still advance. I will list the players who advance, those who are eliminated, and the next question at the end of each round. There can be as many rounds until one person is left. All those who fail to answer in the time, and who answer incorrectly, will be eliminated. There will always be another chance for you to redeem yourself after the game is over. Example of Round procedure: Round 1: 10 players ( Total number of participants ) Round 2: 6 players ( 40% of total contestants eliminated ) Round 3: 4 players ( 60% of total contestants eliminated ) Round 4: 2 players ( It's now heads up ) The person who triumphs from Round 4 will be the winner. In the event that no players get it correct, the round will be redone, with a different question. Resources?? Anything you want to use But what do you get for winning? The pleasure of hosting the next game. The cycle will continue going, so that we all can have fun, and test our knowledge in several subjects. Please begin signing up now. The topic of the first game will be DCI Corps If you feel capable enough to answer trivia, please feel free to sign up. Remember I will only take the first ten people for now, so that the game isn't overflowed. You can use this thread to chat, but anyone who shares an answer will be eliminated. All questions must be asked publically so that no player has an edge over an other player, and I will be happy to answer all questions. Enjoy! Quote

LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 It's a light tan color, but we have many persian rugs ( about 10 overall, i don't think we use all of them ) that are mainly red. Will you play though? Quote
Xenon Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I don't have a lot of DCI Trivia knowledge, but yes; I can try and hold my own. Quote

Will_Doohit Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Well, I have no real DCI knowledge, but I might as well try anyway. Suppose the internet is good for something and I have 24 hours. So I'm in. Quote
actualgirltrombone Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I know nothing, but I will play anyway. By the way, are there trombones in ANY corps? Quote
LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 Most trombone players play baritone. Quote

Thanks for participating. As of right now, it may not be very rewarding, but it'll put you on a quest to learn more about band, and as it the game develops and gets more popular, as our site will, there might be better rewards as we figure them out. For now this is fun and interactive. Quote
LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 Nothing yet, this kind of like the BETA version for alot of online games released. Eventually as the site get's popular, I'm hoping to add more players. I only made 10 because, as you see the rate of progress, it's been a day and only 4 have wanted to sign up. Quote

Jag Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Giggles, with 24 hours to answer the question, anybody could look it up online. To make this work you would need some type of instant messenger. If you do end up running it the way you plan your trivia tournament will last weeks if not months, or, as long as everybody involved keeps interest. Quote
LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 I know, you don't have to always follow me around and tear everything i do to shreads and point out all little inconsistencies. It's not going to be stuff like, who won the world championship in 2004. The point is to be resourceful and use your knowledge. It's going to be very indepth, no aspect of DCI will be too minute. 24 hours is a short time frame, considering how active we are. If rouns one shows too much success, I'll lower the time frame. Or say the first five people to come with me with a correct answer advance. But still, all answers are final, so If only 3 people get it right, even if they are the last three, then they are the only ones who advance. I said this was kind of a BETA, it's still in the testing. Quote

Sorry, couldn't resist. Quote
LordGiggles Posted July 1, 2005 Author Posted July 1, 2005 Well it always seem that you just try to you know.. ruin these ideas I have. But your probably right, I'm going to revise the rules for 12 hours, and the first 6/10 advance. This way there are only limited rounds. It will go: Round 1: 10 players ( Total number of participants ) Round 2: 6 players ( 40% of total contestants eliminated ) Round 3: 4 players ( 60% of total contestants eliminated ) Round 4: 2 players ( It's now heads up ) This will work better, And it will be over in two days. Thanks for your input, I just guess I got a little fustrated. Quote
