bxOxAxUIL Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Do we have a tally of who all has advanced to the state contest under the new system? Quote
Dave609 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 As of right now, there is 18 bands that have recieved a 1st Divison. There is still one more school to go. Idk if all bands are advancing based on old UIL 1A rules. Quote

Walton Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 I think a band advances when they get a 1 unless there are more than 3 bands in one region that get a one, in which case only the top 3 (I don't know what process they use for ranking) advance. Quote

imnewhere Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 The only ones that did not go were Rotan and Baird both in Region 6 with Irion County, Menard, Eden, and Water Valley advancing Quote
utee94 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Watching 1A State Prelims right now, I really love watching what these bands do with their shows, given their size and often-times financial constraints, compared to the massive 6A and 5A powers. It reminds me a lot more of what my high school's marching shows were 30 years ago, even though we were a decently-resourced 5A school. Times have certainly changed. They work hard, just like all the kids at bigger schools, and I love seeing them get to show their stuff in the Alamodome. WanderingTraveler 1 Quote
Dave609 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 After block 1, here is my personal rankings- Claude O'Donnell Leakey Petersburg Nueces Canyon Eden D'Hanis Still a good portion of bands still to go including the reigning state champion Menard. Best of luck to the rest of the 1A schools! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Good luck to all of our 1A bands today!!! WanderingTraveler 1 Quote

imnewhere Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 It's so interesting how different Menard and Knox City are from everyone else. Knox City for their theme, and Menard for their dedication to body and electronics. I'm from Mississippi, and Menard reminds me of the class 1A and 2A bands over there. Quote
