I'm thinking similar to you-- Hebron and Vandegrift are going to score very highly using UIL criteria.  I've got FloMo and VR swapped but it could certainly turn out as you predict,  and everything beyond that from 4-10 is a jumble that could go just about any direction.

This competition will be fierce, and fun to watch!

I don't know why, but Vista Ridge just blew me away at BOA…FloMo is super talented as well though, so we will see.

I really loved their show, for sure.  As a Leander ISD homer I have a special affinity for them, and the father of the first VR trumpet soloist was sitting right in front of me in the Alamodome and we'd been talking for a while before they marched, and he was the nicest, most sincere guy.  My wife (illegally! ;)) took contraband video of his son playing, and then got his number and forwarded it to him afterward, and he was in tears.  I'd be delighted for them if they placed even higher than I predict!

For the sake of intense curiosity on my part… what’re some fan favorites you’d love to see at finals but don’t necessarily expect to make it? I find it interesting how much variation there can be between what’s high-scoring and what’s genuinely entertaining and fun (major exception regarding that cat show, can’t remember if it’s Cy-Fair or someone else).

Sachse beat waxahachie and duncanville I wouldn’t rank them that low

I dont like going completely based on area since the judge sheets are… really bad lmao. Now if they made it I would be SO glad to be wrong, but area judging is so broad and inconsistent that I cant really place Sachse properly in my head until they get a placement here

No I don’t think Sachse will make finals and I do see area judging be all over the place but from past contest this year they’ve been really close to dville so I won’t count them out just hoping they can be 15-17

LET'S GO MARCUS!!! - former MHS bass clarinet
(Also, does anyone have a video of Marcus's show this year because I have not seen it yet)

I'm thinking Marcus was .2 behind Hebron at BOA and came from behind all season last year to take 2nd ahead of Hebron and FloMo. Flower Mound's show is really good this year, but Marcus is a small band that packs a serious punch.  I'm seeing them placed at 5th, 6th in some predictions here and I think they have a great show this year that's well executed.  Hebron is an incredible band with a ton of talent but I think our material is better this year and more dynamic - we'll see what happens!  Either way it's going to be an exciting 2 days. Vandegrift was sloppy the other night and it cost them - not a huge fan of their material this year either, but another strong band and it's a new day.  No matter how this all comes out it will be an exciting and entertaining two days!
