Tailgate88 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 South Lake Carroll gets my vote for favorite props so far! The band kids running around with giant angel fish at the back of the field, the huge yellow submarine, and the guard with huge red crab claws on. Very original and whimsical! Not sure it's a finals worthy performance but very fun and satisfying - well done kids! AWF2014 and maxin459 2 Quote

I am enjoying this block of shows - entertaining themes, smart ideas, and good design! Don't get me wrong - I am still down for an existential battle for our souls playing out in four-way stretch fabric and swing flags. JazzRun 1 Quote
Popular Post Tubalord11 Posted November 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2024 Oh Southlake, you have my heart, this is one of my favorite shows of all time, and if that was your last run, thank you for bringing us that magical show!! Great job brass in the opener, and that WW small ensemble, ya'll have been incredible all season long! Really love the visual design of this show, s much bodywork with them "swimming" around, love the big fish set, just so much from a design standpoint that they nailed and executed so well! Beautiful work in the ballad, the Flugelhorn soloist is so good, percussion rocked their feature, and guard was great, amazing performance Dragon Band!! averagemello, somekidsblujay, Miyazuu and 5 others 8 Quote

Tailgate88 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 WOW Woodlands! You guys always get such fun shows - fantastic soloists, gorgeous props and wow can your brass play their faces off. That show had kind of a Bluecoats vibe to it, and I loved it! Definitely plan to see you guys again tomorrow. Great job! Parkwoodmom and maxin459 2 Quote

I was watching today and my audio starting distorting because of the insane volume put on some of these 6a bands!! Texas bands are wild, even some 5a bands "broke" the mic's! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 WOODLANDS!!! Gosh that show is so much Fun!!! Amazing work from the soloists going into that opening hit. Such a jazzy and groovy sound, and they are so good at staying together despite the multiple rapid entrances and releases the show has. Great job in the ballad, though rip the Sparano on the first long sustain, but great recovery at the end, was super solid the rest of it, some insane licks. Really love that low brass feature, only 7 tubas yet they pump out such a big and mature sound, oh and let's not forgot that Awesome guard, HOLY COW!! It's more of a theatrical production than anything, yet with so many moving parts (literally), can't wait to see that again, amazing job TW's!! Parkwoodmom 1 Quote

Tubalord11 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Okay Permian, we see you!! I see why they won music at the west Texas boa comp because boy can they play, some Hebron 2019 in there (don't know the specific piece lol), but they killed those licks, supper pretty ballad as well, and visually very clean, oh and that opening hit is massive, amazing joy ya'll!! bk_bobb 1 Quote
WanderingTraveler Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Im out of breath just watching Permian…That sounded like a challenging book! What an athletically demanding show. Quote

Tubalord11 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Great showing from CTJ!! Though I don't understand the concept of the show (it's prob just me), they sound fantastic!! Great sounds from the brass in the opener, really big presence. Great work from the brass quartet in the ballad, though it seemed like there were a couple minor timing issues? (prob just me again), great work from the Sprano, really mature sound. Visually very solid, love the callback to 2017/29 in the high brass during the closer. I'm kind of getting a tribute type show feeling but if someone knows please do explain. Regardless of how their season went, I fully expect them to be back on top within a season or two, amazing job CTJ! Quote
