UIL 6A State Marching Contest 2024 (Nov 11-12)

I have to be honest, TWHS show did not click for me all season until today. That show is so colorful and the guard sells it. They are consistently one of Texas’ greatest visual groups and I can’t wait for them to go back to nats presumably next year!

WOW The Woodlands!!! Far and away the most fun show of the season!!! Fantastic job soloists going into that super jazzy opening hit. Gosh what a ballad, I could listen to that Soprano for hours, what a sound!!! Amazing job low brass, that feature is one of my favorites this season by far!!! Visually just so so clean, and that guard is just out of this world, fantastic performance TW’s!!!

A stunning amount of visual dirt for Hebron. Also musically stunning as always. Not sure they beat Vista Ridge on music.

HEBRO(N)!!! CLEAN FORMS AND CLEAN SOUNDS!!! I will never not love the sounds that come from this band!!! Trombone moment upfront in the beginning was super nice!!! HOLY MELLOS!!! Flute and Trumpet soloists have such a good tone, wow. Also just love the platforms. Good job.

I’m sitting at the far end of the stadium and can view all the diagonals head on. They were pretty far off. I had to do a double take. It happened several times. Judges may not catch it.

Hebron’s Rocky Point section is maybe one of the best things they’ve ever played.

HEBRON!!! We’re living in their world at this point, HOLY CRAP!!! So so clean both musically and visually!! Great job with that opener, those dynamical pushes are so clean. Like 2 second of loosens in the trumpet feature and then they locked in. That ballad, Straight Chills, amazing work Flute and Trumept soloists, and they killed the release and re-entrance. I don’t think that Pic solo could ever get boring, I mean holy crap, and great job WW’s to follow. Tuba feature was great, and the ending was just wonderful. We’ll see what the judges thought, but could definitely bring home the gold tonight, wow wow wow, amazing job Hawk Band!!

FloMo, what a visually amazing show. I love this ballad. I don’t fully understand the show, but the visual sells whatever it is. The small ensemble throughout the show is definitely my favorite part. Plus the “plumes” are super fun. Good way to end 6A state.

seeing people compliment my solo which was such an emotional moment for me literally makes me even more emotional you all are so kind thank you 🤍 regardless of results i’ll always look on this season with such happy memories 😸

I have no words for that FloMo show.  I'll be rewatching that about a dozen times tomorrow.  Crazy.

FloMo's show is just visually stunning. Very artistic but also such great sound. It can be hard for a band of this size to find the sweet spot with their sound and not enter the territory of blaring cacophony, but this one nailed it.

Ok - better (aka more knowledgeable) people than me - 

 

early in Flo mo’s set - they formed what looked like was supposed to be an infinity symbol- but it didn’t look like one.  Am I missing something reading the intent?  Or was it just “dirty”.  I honestly don’t know and am not trying to throw Flo Mo under the bus.  They are a great band!   I’m just trying to learn here…

Wow Flower Mound, what a way to close out finals!! Just such a smart design, and their execution is off the charts. Amazing job WW ensemble, y’all’s tone is insane and has been all season long. That ballad is so gorgeous, just mind blowing. Super exciting closer, love the brass writing a lot. Visually, just in their own world, those uniforms are so sick, love the change, but yeah, it’s gonna be close tonight, fantastic job Flomo!!
