Just hold you head up I just think it is more likely to happen when you have so few bands that get qualified to begin with as well as multiple top performing bands instead of one standout. Regions were brutal this year in Area A for some reason so not many were qualified from the get go.

It looks like per the schedule they’re already taking 14 to finals?? But i still wouldn’t be complaining. Also, bad judge rule is if a band gets 3rd or higher from 2 music judges and one of the visual judges, they also qualify for state. This is in place so one or two judges that aren’t in line with the majority don’t hurt a band that, by the majority deserves to go to state. So the 6 a schedule I looked at last night - only had two slots in it for Area A. And it was 39 bands (I thought) - so wouldn’t that mean we already have 40? The original list in this post only said 2 from area A - but there are 3 in reality… so?

There are three music judges and two visual judges. If an Area is, by numbers, is supposed to have 4 State slots, for example, and the band that finishes 5th in Finals was placed above the 4th place band by two of the music judges and one of the visual judges, that 5th place band will also advance to State. In that situation, what has happened is that the 3rd music judge and/or the 2nd visual judge has ranked that 5th place band significantly lower than the other judges, hence the "bad judge" moniker. Yeah so reiterating what everyone else said: if a band does not place within the respective quota of state qualifiers, but at least 2 music judges and 1 visual judge certifies them, then that band will advance to state. I honestly wouldn't put it past the Woodlands, Pearland, or Flomo to take the first-place spot this year. Vandy and Hebron are definitely the favorites, though. Flomo only needed one more 1 to beat Hebron in Area J finals, and I could see them making a run for first or second place this year. lost and Online Marcher 1
