There will be 7 finalists, and 3 bands headed to state.  Going to be sad watching some bands go home.

As someone who is from this area and also perhaps works here it's been awesome seeing 2 state finalists in 2022 and 2023 from up here.  Love seeing the representation from all areas in 4A at the state finals level.  

Tough contest!  One really good band is going to have to stay home this year that would have advanced last year and I don't envy the judges.  Best of luck to all!

Still reeling on how Riverside gets a 2 after being 6th at Area last year. Don't know how that happened but sure they will be back next year. 3 bands are definitely not enough to send from this talented Area!

Their show is even better this year! I can honestly see them placing higher at state than they have in the past few years. Maybe top 5.

I've seen a lot of the bands and I think that Canyon, Pecos, and Andrews have a really good chance

Personally, I believe that Canyon and West Plains will be in the top 2, and that final spot will go between Randal, Pecos, and Andrews

They have a backup plan that if it does get cancel they will move it to that next Monday

I've been following band for a long time, I can't remember the last time an area alternate date was used.  Even if it's just prelims they'll try to get it in even if it's start and stop all day with performances.  We shall see.

Could make for some interesting performances and possible results depending on how everything works out. But Lord willing it will just be cloudy and maybe light rain so we can do the whole thing

Contest is delayed until 12:45pm.  Finals on the table for now.  Very fluid situation.  It's looking like the rain should clear out by around noon or so.

West Plains and Pecos tied in prelims and there was no finals round, so both bands will advance.

What a crazy day!  Finished up prelims after 9pm!!!  

Shoutout to Pampa, Hereford, Andrews, Pecos, and Fort Stockton on dealing with the absolute worst of the day in terms of delays.  Randall got poured on right before the second delay, so shoutout to them on pulling out a win in probably the worst conditions of the day!  I heard Pampa went in and out of warmup like 5 times.  Sitting on a bus for hours and hours is grueling and takes some mental fortitude.  

SO GLAD Pecos ADVANCED!  They've seriously stepped their game up in recent years and this year is no exception.  I was so bummed only 3 were going to, but the divine intervention of UIL judges preference was a positive force yesterday.

i feel really bad for Andrews it's been 5 years since they been to state and always getting 4th or 5th those Canyon schools needs to leave like stay as a 5A band like jeez let other bands have a chance at State for once
