Andrews is closer in enrollment size to 5A than any of the Canyon ISD schools. Andrews had a great show, it's just a really tough Area!

What a crazy day!  Finished up prelims after 9pm!!!

Shoutout to Pampa, Hereford, Andrews, Pecos, and Fort Stockton on dealing with the absolute worst of the day in terms of delays.  Randall got poured on right before the second delay, so shoutout to them on pulling out a win in probably the worst conditions of the day!  I heard Pampa went in and out of warmup like 5 times.  Sitting on a bus for hours and hours is grueling and takes some mental fortitude.

SO GLAD Pecos ADVANCED!  They've seriously stepped their game up in recent years and this year is no exception.  I was so bummed only 3 were going to, but the divine intervention of UIL judges preference was a positive force yesterday.

Pecos advanced with zero electronics. No soloists. Synths were silent. All on top of sitting through a miserable and rainy seven hour performance delay. The kids powered through and absolutely deserve another shot at a proper performance.

I think they could have been top 3 without those issues.

I think most bands would have preferred to go again, lightning just got out of hand. I think they could have got it in before the delay to 8pm. At that point it became logistically impossible to get it in.  Last band finished at 9:15pm.  Results and verification around 9:30pm-9:45pm.  Then you have to make sure all bands get a proper warmup.   Earliest finals would have realistically been possible to start would have been around 10:45pm.

All Bands definitely had their individual challenges for the day.  Just goes to show how strong and resilient all of these kids are! All the top 4 definitely earned a spot to go to San Antonio.
