Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Hello Hitchcock!! If this is bottom half tonight's going to be amazing because these kids sound so good! Great work soprano soloists going into the opening hit. Really great sounds from the WW's during their technical runs. Great control from the low brass in the ballad, Heck Yeah Tuba soloist!! Great low brass feature going into the closer. Really great sounds, both individually and as an ensemble, was really impressed with their musical presence for a smaller band. Great marching technique, just a super impressive showing all around, congratulations on your first state finals appearance Hitchcock! utee94 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Awesome show from Orange Grove!! Great and strong use of Verdi's requiem in the opener, caught me off guard with the big opening hit! Great dynamic contrast throughout, really showing off their musical skills. Love Elsa's Procession in any marching show, and they played it so beautifully in their ballad, amazing work soloists. Lovely ending with plenty of showcasing of the different sections. Soloists were great all around, and plenty of visuals to add some effect to the story. Congratulations on your performance Orange Grove! TexasStrangers 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Super cute Alice and the Wonderland show from Clifton! Plenty of dark and light musical moments throughout the show to bring out the different themes of the movies. Color guard took the show away, such a great performance from them to add so much depth to the show. Really solid musical sounds throughout, Ww's killing their features, great flute solo in that super well-done ballad. Great tuba feature and that Trumpet player absolutely laid it down, my goodness! Great prop/equipment usage, great overall performance, great job Clifton!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Strong showing from Holliday!! Love the narrative throughout the show, adds some great storytelling to the show. Solid opening hit could use a little more power for their size, but still very present. Great sounds in the low brass and WW features in the second movement; super pretty clarinet trio in the ballad. Super cool percussion feature during the dark and stormy section of the flight, great work from the Sax quartet in the closer as we come to a happy ending, that tarp was super cool going into the final hit! Plenty of visual cues to the show with different arrows and runways being seen throughout, great job Holliday! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 WOW C.H. Yoe!!! Could definitely see them jump into the top half because that was fantastic!! Front ensemble was ripping it in that opener, beautiful sounds from the WW quintet into the opening statement. Great euphonium duet in the second movement, and gosh that ballad was so gorgeous. They are playing with such bright and mature sounds with tons of dynamic contrast! Some great work from the guard as well, nice visual work as well, but I'm just blown away by that musical performance, amazing job tonight C.H. Yoe!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Whitesboro...they are REALLY trying to defend their win, HOLY COW!!! First off, that Flute soloists was just PHENOMENAL all show long!!! These kids are placing at such a high level, with so much musical demand that they are executing so well. That ballad was just so pretty, great work from the Flute quartet. Visually super appealing, loved the company front at the end, such a special moment. So many technical passages throughout that they are playing so well, that was about as perfect as that could have been, amazing job Whietesboro! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Yeah ummm, I think we have tonight's winner, OMG Mineola!!! Don't have many words other than how blown away I am. Such a big sound in that opener with that super clean drill and bodywork. Great use of cycle song in the second movement, soloists were brining it! Amazing work from the trombone in the ballad in which they play with such emotion and expression. And god that closer, So powerful!! Visually so so clean, tons of bodywork, great usage of the props. Color guard was also ridiculous, some super challenging tosses that they nailed. But yeah, they brought it tonight, would be pretty shocked if they don't walk out with the gold, but my goodness what a show, by far my favorite from them, fantastic job Mineola!! rbband 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 ATLANTA!! That spot for second is gonna be tight because wow what a performance! First off, 12 tubas is just insane, that's more than most 4A-6A programs. Second, gosh these kids can play!! Super big sound in that opening hit! Love ecstasy of gold as the ballad, amazing work sax soloist, such a professional sound. And dead or alive fits so well for the closer. Guard was also stellar, plenty of solo moments they nailed. Yeah idk about ya'll but I could see them doing very well tonight, really solid run both musically and visually, wonderful job Atlanta! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 OMG Raymondville!! These 3A programs are coming out HOT because what a performance!! Great flute soloist in the preshow going into that opening statement, wow what a sound!! Flight of the bumblebees, no problem for this band, amazing work again from that Flute player, as well as the clarinet playing the technical part of the piece with the brass adding some nice texture in the background. Super pretty ballad, and what an emotional closer. Oh and that tuba feature/dance break after the ballad was such a blast. Visually very clean, love the pictures in the closer, definitely another band with some upset potential tonight, but wow what a showing, congratulations on your first time in state finals Raymondville!! Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 WOW REDWATER!! I don't know if it was just NFHS, but they have a MASSIVE sound for their size, holy crap! I'm actually speechless right now, how do they do that! First off, wow battery, what an entrance to the show. Great use of requiem in the second movement, tons of dynamic contrast. Such a beautiful ballad, and gosh that closer was just insane. I don't envy the judges one bit because the top 5 tonight was just insane, but everyone really gave it their all, results are going to be wild!! Trumpeter75 1 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Wow, what an evening! This might be the best group of finalist this conference has ever seen, because some of these bands are playing at an insanely good level, I'm talking like 4A/5A level, wow. Supper happy I was able to watch tonight bc I was blown away by the level of quality on the field Quote
