Moose Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 This is just a general consensus of how many people on TxBands are trying out for the Crossmen in San Antonio on November 24-26. Raise your hand if your going! Quote
QuadraticBeats Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 *raises hand* I'm still waiting for them to put up percussion info before I bother to say I'm going to go to a camp. Quote

Moose Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 Ok, so I talked to Megh Healy, an admin for YEA! and she said that you will recieve the audition material after you send in the registration and 90$ registration fee. Show music and such will be avaliable online by password once you make the corps. Yea, it sucks that you have to send in the registration first, but dont let the opportunity to be apart of The Crossmen slip away. With a brass staff and music arranger like the Crossmen are gonna have, and a potential percussion staff that Ive heard about, this is promising to be a great year for the Crossmen. You can email Megh at megh@yea.org Quote

G'townPIT Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 So the $90 registration fee is total garbage. I mean I understand that they need the money and everything, but that's asking a lot out of people who aren't even sure if they'll make it. Which would make people like me, decide not to try out. And I realize that I'd be saving a lot of money by only having to drive there instead of flying somewhere else, but it's just not worth it. Maybe you get like a sweet t-shirt or something. Quote
TX Suh-nare Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 You're telling me you'd rather spend $200-$350 on plane tickets monthly rather than $40-$50 on gas to Dirty SA with an extra $90 fee? That doesn't make too much sense to me. Two stops at a gas station AND the registration fee for two months are cheaper than flying Southwest or Continental round trip once to the next closest drum corps! Quote
G'townPIT Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 No, that's not what I'm telling you. I'm only talking about the price of 1 audition. A lot of corps come to Texas for auditions, and they don't charge ridiculous amounts for audition materials. I'd also like to dedicate my 200th post to all the children in India. Quote
CHS King Mello Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 that's just how it is. It's not just Crossmen, it's like that with every single corps. When I went to the Crown camp last year, they asked for an 85 dollar registration fee PLUS a camp fee. It's not total garbage, it's a requirement for the corps to run. Pay it and be happy you're trying drum corps. -Conner Quote
Moose Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 Plus, make it this year, and never pay the registration or camp fees again. Its great to be a vet. Quote
titancoaster Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 i might be going, it sort of depends on if my parents will let me go. Quote

Aegis Fang Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Did anyone else realize that on the crossmen merchandise website, you can buy a replica of their uniform from this season for 300 bucks? I find that amusing... =p Quote
