OWB_Nation Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Thought I'd start this for next season. This (even without LISD) is one of the most competitive Areas so I wanna let people have their way too early predictions. Quote
OWB_Nation Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 These are the bands from this area. Area C will be hosted on October 25th 2025 6A Area C (Region 3, 4, 20, 21)- Region 3 (11)- Forney HS** Garland HS John Horn HS Mesquite HS North Forney HS North Garland HS Rockwall HS* Rockwall-Heath HS* Rowlett HS Royse City HS Sachse HS** Region 4 (0 Bands) Region 20 (13)- Berkner HS* Dallas Jesuit HS Duncanville HS** Irving HS Irving MacArthur HS Irving Nimitz HS JJ Pearce HS* Lake Highlands HS* Lancaster HS Richardson HS* Skyline HS Washington HS Waxahachie HS** Region 21 (1)- Tyler Legacy HS I also added stars (*) one for making Area Finals two if they made state last year Quote
BugWub24 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I wouldn’t expect too much change to the finals block. The top 5 from this year will almost certainly be the top 5 next season (order TBD of course!). Going based off the state results, it will be pretty difficult for Sachse to repeat as the area champion. Duncanville and Rockwall are interchangeable at 4 and 5. A way-too-early prediction could play out as such: 1. Waxahachie 2. Forney 3. Sachse 4-5. Duncanville/Rockwall Quote
Tubalord11 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I'm very excited so see how this one turns out. Obviously I feel like Waxa will be the fav to win unless Sachse or another group starts to continuously win this area, but I'd bet that won't happen. I feel like Sachse just needs to keep up having strong designs like last year and then they'll be fine bc the talent has been there since 2018, they just need to be able to show that in a well designed show. I feel like the same applies to Forney, and as fun as last years show was, I think there was some room for improvement. I think a lot of other groups like Lake Highlands, JJ and Berkner have a shot at state. This area isn't the strongest top to bottom, but I feel like the difference in overall quality, especially in the 3rdish-7th range isn't that different when all of these groups have strong shows, so outside of Waxahachie, I'd dare to say it's fair game. I also think there's plenty of room for new finalist, and those last 2 to 3 spots will also be interchangeable between whoever takes them and the first couple groups out. Can't wait to see how things shake out Quote
OWB_Nation Posted February 28 Author Posted February 28 It really sucks when you have an Area with a lot of great bands and only 4 advance to state. Overall I’d agree that Wax will win this Area next year. Maybe the only reason they didn’t make first is because they didn’t wanna go first at state 😂 (only joking). I’d also say it’s pretty safe to say Sachse could comeback to state next year. I don’t think I’m the only one who didn’t expect Sachse winning last year. I feel like other than those two bands it really comes down to who can fight it out between Rockwall, Forney, and Duncanville. It’s also not crazy for me to say one of the Richardson schools could pull and upset and grab their ticket. I’m not fully saying my predictions after how disappointing last years ending for us went, but hopefully Rockwall can build an even better show! But we’ll see Quote
BoneGuy4 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I’m about to be a Rockwall alumni and Rockwall has a lot of things going right for them in this next season. Can’t wait to see what happens in area C in 2025. melloww and OWB_Nation 2 Quote

Proposal D3 would make that accommodation, but that only really benefits two areas across the entire state: 6A Area J and 5A Area H. Since the two big LISD's dominate the podium each year, both of those areas would be getting 6-7 bands to state every year, which results in unequal representation, which makes marching band realignment moot. The sentiment is definitely felt across the state (Area J has this problem bad). With an exponentially fast-growing activity, it's hard to believe there will be a permanent solution. The reality is that there will always be some excellent groups who miss the cut simply due to the area they are in, and they may not be the same groups year-to-year. Quote

Feel free to disagree with me, but the way I see it only one more band should be added to qualify for state if one of the bands from the area makes state finals. That way they can add more available spots for bands compete for without letting some really good bands not have a good chance. Quote

OWB_Nation Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 I do wanna give my full thoughts from all the finalists from last year on how they did last year and what I think they should do moving forward. Keep in mind that these are NOT my predictions for next year, but instead in the same order of how results fell. Feel free to disagree with me but I'ma share my thoughts. 1. Sachse, the Area champ from last year. I'm not the only one to not see Sachse winning area this year, but it shows that anything could happen. I feel like what Sachse just needs to build a strong show like they did last year and keep up with what's happening around them. I know they are many peoples dark horse riding into the season, all they have to do in my opinion is not fall off (which I don't expect them to do) 2. Waxahachie, the silver medalist from last year. I didn't get to see Wax's full show last year, but when I heard them before going on to perform last year they did feel a little off. And then they went off to be one away from making state finals. Waxahachie has proven itself to be a powerhouse when it comes to band, and is definetly in the connversation for Area C champs. 3. Forney, the bronze medalist from last year. I think Forney just needs to utilize the fact that they are 6A. Obviously it was their first year being 6A and I don't think they looked as strong as they did the year prior. They're gonna be in contention to make state, but they really need to zone in on deep cleaning their show. Yes they are gonna be a band powerhouse, but I think they really need to focus on areas 6A bands deep clean on. 4. Duncanville, the fourth place medalist from last year. I really enjoyed Duncanville's show last year. It was fun with popular music and the sounded pretty good. Considering that last year was their first time in Area C I do think they played it a little safe. What Duncanville needs to do is to realize that they can't play it safe in an Area like this one. Having a fun and clean show is one thing, but having a great and clean show is something Duncanville needs to focus on if they wanna stay in the top 4 for Area. 5. Rockwall, the fifth place band from last year. Listen, yes I'm gonna be a little bit biased with my band, but I well and truly believe we had a shot at making state last year. That was hands down the best show in our bands history and we well and truly got robbed of making state because of UIL rules. What we need to do as a band is clean up our music areas now that we are doing harder and more challenging movement and really clean any small visual descreptances. I feel like we have a strong chance at making state we just have to make a show better than last year. 6. JJ Pearce, the sixth place band from last year. I think from last year it's pretty clear Pearce is good at one thing: Visuals. Pearce needs to really combine their visual talent with musical expertise and they got themselves a solid show. And yes, they did have a show last year that needed strong visuals, but I don't think they will drop just because their changing their show next year. 7. Berkner, the seventh place band from last year. I only got to see Berkner twice last season, but they looked pretty solid last time I saw them. Obviously, it's not easy going from a state qualifying band to becoming seventh at Area, but their not the only good band who did that least year (Refering to LD Bell) They just need to catch up with the rest of the people in this Area and show that they're still worthy of a top Area spot. 8. Lake Highlands, the eigth place band from last year. I didn't get to see their show this year but they looked pretty good. Overall they just need to get up with the other two Richardson schools sitting at sixth and seventh. 9. Richardson, the ninth place band from last year. They're also in the same situation with LA, but something I did enjoy when rewatching their show was they used the same opener as Rockwall 2022, just with different instruments. 10. Rockwall Heath, the tenth place band from last year. Our brother to the south, I was extremely happy for Rockwall Heath on making finals last year. They just need to keep building up their program and they could rise up the ranks. Some other honorable mentions that could make finals into the future are Royce City, North Forny, and Garland. But i'm excited to see what comes next for this area. CosmicLimbo 1 Quote
