I could imagine Wax or Sachse will run away with it, but since I’m a woodwind I don’t know much about percussion so take that with a grain of salt 😂

I was joking about the Whiplash guy being the band director still. The top 3 for Perc for me would be Sachse, Wax, or Berkner. Berkner beet out Hebron at the lone star drum line contest in 2023 so even thought they placed pretty low in finals their percussion is kinda cracked.

Apparently J J Pearce head director and associate director are leaving

Some big changes this year. That change shouldn't change to much unless the director is cracked and changes the culture of the band instantly. I see it more as a set back for Pearce this year but depending on who that is it could be worth watching out for them.

NGL if you're on this website it means Marching band>concert band all day.

I told my bassoon teacher that I like synth more than bassoon and she "your opinion is wrong and you're gonna start practicing bassoon." TBH concert band is extremely easy to me and I can play any of the music just from fingering music on the side in band class so I never practice at home since it's to easy LOL

If I’m doing the math right, this area has lost many prices of last year so I’m gonna list all of them as of 4/11.

Sachse: Lost head director

JJ Pearce: Lost head director

Waxahachie: Losing some director pieces.

And considering all three of these programs were area finalists and two were state qualifiers these could be the difference between the standings from this year to last year. The question is who will take advantage of the new leadership opportunities or will these three prove they can win without their previous directors

Expand

I expect Waxa will be fine either way, Sachse and JJ idk, both have really strong foundations

I wouldn’t expect to much drop off from either Sac or JJ. Maybe it would affect just this year and the new directors know what they’re up against. But they can’t take things slow, because I can almost guarantee you that Forney, D-Ville, and Rockwall will all try to take advantage of these changes.

Director changes have been handled very well at least on the short run, in recent years. Many bigger schools with director changes keep the same methods throughout the first year and ease into the new head director's methodology, for better or worse, so I expect these schools to either remain in their spots or some bump up a lot.

Yeah, that is something I have noticed with several bands.

I'd expect nearly no movement unless one of the new directors comes in and ruins the band experience for people or is just the goat of managing a band I expect not much improvement or failure from those bands which could leave the door open for those bands that aren't going through change.

From my understanding at least two bands have had their show revealed. One being Royce City with their show blink and Berkner (They didn't actually post it I just know they had it)

Berkner is very secretive with their shows unless you see it in person most people don't know. I know what the show is but out of respect will not share it to the public. I'll say if they execute the show as well as they did in 2023 they have a solid chance making State even is this tough area.

Reference to Area J, the finalists of which are almost entirely the same as with pre-2024 Area C. Basically talking about the good ole days lol

Expand

Back before all the Richardson schools, Waxahachie, and Dvil. Ah the days in area B where Berkner made State for a 7th place finals position.
