I agree, but I'm really excited for it too. This could shape who we see advance from Area C and many other Areas as well. I just can't wait any longer

Dville had 4 trumpet all staters this year and I don’t think any of them were seniors! This next year will probably be their strongest high brass section ever. Really hope their show takes advantage of this and does more cool stuff like what they did with their screamer last year.

This area's gonna be fun this year, I think that a lot of these director changes will help spice it up.

I think Sachse will still place high in area and state. They had a really great show last year and I think they could continue that momentum as GISD is slowly getting on the map with them and LCHS; I dont see them falling down many spots at Area.

Calling out to those who are or have been Drum Majors.

Our leadership auditions are coming up and I'm a synth player so our options are pretty limited since we can't really be a percussion captain/section leader and we already help load the trucks every game so joining the loading crew is kind of off the table. There are really only 3 options for a leadership role and that would be join the Electronics crew that helps set up speakers for rehearsal(not every interested), sound crew captain which has already been taken by my friend, and lastly drum major. I would love the opportunity to conduct the band and be a strong leader but I love synth so much I don't know if its worth leaving synth for my last 2 years so I can be DM. Also if I don't enjoy DM we get locked into it for the remaining time we have in HS. I'mm pretty conflicted and would love to hear from those who have  been DM!!!!

Thanks yall

I could imagine Wax or Sachse will run away with it, but since I’m a woodwind I don’t know much about percussion so take that with a grain of salt 😂

I was joking about the Whiplash guy being the band director still. The top 3 for Perc for me would be Sachse, Wax, or Berkner. Berkner beet out Hebron at the lone star drum line contest in 2023 so even thought they placed pretty low in finals their percussion is kinda cracked.

Apparently J J Pearce head director and associate director are leaving

Some big changes this year. That change shouldn't change to much unless the director is cracked and changes the culture of the band instantly. I see it more as a set back for Pearce this year but depending on who that is it could be worth watching out for them.

For those wondering, the head director is going to launch the Richland band program in Prosper ISD.

It’s not even the end of UIL concert season and so much has happened. Anyone know where I can find the fast forward button to skip to marching season?

So after seeing some of the things that happened, I want to make an estimation chart for where I think the highs and lows are for some bands. These aren’t necessarily my “predictions” but more the possibilities I see.

1.  Wax/Sachse

2. Wax/Sachse/Rockwall

3. Sachse/Rockwall/Forney/D-Ville

4. Rockwall/Forney/D-Ville

5. Rockwall/Forney/D-Ville/Berkner

6. Forney/Berkner/JJ/Lake High

7. Berkner/JJ/Lake High/Rich

8. JJ/Lake High/ Rich/ Heath

9. Rich/ Heath

10. Rich/Heath/Royce City/N Forney

I told my bassoon teacher that I like synth more than bassoon and she "your opinion is wrong and you're gonna start practicing bassoon." TBH concert band is extremely easy to me and I can play any of the music just from fingering music on the side in band class so I never practice at home since it's to easy LOL
