J-Mike16 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 This needs to be moved to the UIL: Upcoming Contests topic. I have been wanting to start this conversation for a bit now as last year's results were not what everyone was thinking lol. Quote

Expand There was definitely lots of controversy last year on multiple occasions. Some of the big talking points I heard where -is Lindale's stadium big enough for a competition like this? -should the region 25 schools have the later prelims performance? -Should region 25 even be in this area? those where just a couple of many I heard Quote

The region 25 move really sucked for those schools. Their travel time was more than doubled for most. The Denton stadium is definitely a better location. I live on the prosper/frisco line right down the road from Panther Creek. Panther Creek can be at the Denton venue in under 30 minutes. Celina and VA are right up the toll road and they had to go over two hours in the other direction. I understand that the boundary had to be drawn somewhere but this was silly. Quote

Especially with the number of bands that were there last year. This is an odd question to answer because me personally, I would say no. Most region 10 bands have about 4 hours to travel to get to Lindale. I do think Region 25 and the other regions should have earlier slot times. And my answer is, no not really. Quote
Gigger_Frog Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 what underdogs do we think can make it to state this year? Quote

Expand I’m not as positive about Pine Tree. I think the 5A competition at this contest is nothing like the 4A. I would love to see Canton back. Last year was such a blow to that program. Quote
euph15 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I swear this is such a stacked area. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t there 3 bands from this area in the top ten? Quote

Gigger_Frog Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 The finals schools that didnt make state in this area could've easily made state in any other area in my opinion. thats how crazy hard this area is Quote
