Xenon Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Alright people, I've decided to do something that really classifies me as a band freak. I will be going to two! Count 'em, two! competitions this Saturday. I will be at Birdville for Prelims and Plano East for Finals. I've decided to do this because I have already seen 90% of the bands at Birdville, but I want to see how they are progressing, and there are some bands at PESH that I really want to see (most notably Allen and Berkner) but haven't yet. As far as reviews go, I'll be doing random thoughts and updates for some of the bands at Birdville in addition to a Full Review of PESH Finals. Here is the schedule for PESH: http://www.peshband.com/PlanoEastSchedule06.doc Quote
thatwylieband Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 while you are at PESH look out for that wylie band. id love to hear what you have to say about our show. Berkner and Allen are looking pretty good this year. Quote

itsstephenyo Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Based just on the bands attending, it seems that the Plano East competition caters a bit towards the more UIL style bands as opposed to the BOA bands? I mean, most of the bands I see on that list do VERY well at Area and State competitions, while they don't really participate in BOA. Could this be a valid statement? Quote
Xenon Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 I don't think I've ever seen a serious BOA band attend the PESH competition. Quote

Anyways, the results are a bit interesting. Looks like The Colony is heading back uphill. 12th at Arlington last week and now 6th over Sherman, who placed at State last year, I believe. Way to go, The Colony! Quote
jayzala Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 And 2nd place is Mesquite high school.........oh wait pardon me, POTEET HS Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Wow, that was one of the most unclassy, uncalled for posts I've ever seen. Way to represent your band. Quote

Actually, that was just a quote from the competition. The announcer was crazy. He was messing things up all night. He had gotten through all the announcements except 2nd and 1st (and Mesquite had already been announced 8th) and he says: "And in 2nd Place........ The Mesquite HS Band!!!" *ENTIRE STADIUM ABSOLUTELY QUITE* "Oops! I mean the Poteet HS Band from Mesquite TX!!!" Quote

thatwylieband Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 also...there was a mistake in the prelims results. PRELIMS 1. Berkner 2. Wylie 3. Allen Quote
GuitarJoe Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Was it Poteet HS that was announced wrong at UIL State last year? Quote

borchnork Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 i was shocked at fhs' results. it took them 100 years, but they finally placed at a major competition... wow, sorry that was really low. anyways, it's interesting to see the Duncanville marching invitational placed against the PE marching competition. Berkner and Poteet only ended up 4th and 5th at duncanville. Quote
the terminator Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 No worries, that's probably true considering the past few years they have not been that great. I shall know since I went their last year and you guys rightfully kicked our butts. Although I got to admit the dance in the show was cool Quote
borchnork Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 uhm, I'm sorry, but dance in what show? If you're talking about fhs' show from last year, I only saw it from behind a giant tuba player, so I missed most of it. And I couldn't really hear at all because they were facing away from us 98% of the time... I really was interested in seeing it though. Quote

borchnork Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 oooops, my bad. I could have sworn they were 4 and 5 though, just because they bottom 5 or 6 bands were all 4A. Quote
