Band_Freak Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I would vote for Regiment 1989 with the New World Symphony. What a show! What sounds!!! If you haven't heard it, take a listen and try to get that song out of your head 15 minutes later. Quote
Skippy Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Phantom Regiment 2006. They got shafted big time. It was better than '96 and '89 in my opinion. That mellophone line and Star's 91 mellophone line are tied in my book for most kickass mello section ever. If you weren't at finals, you don't understand just how magical that performance was. That was my 6th or 7th time to see them, and all the other shows didn't even come close to what they pulled out that night. Quote
CHS King Mello Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Phantom 06. Cavies were still better, but Phantom 06 is probably the best 2nd place show I've ever seen. -Conner Quote

At SA they didn't seem too great, but up in Madison, man, they were in a class by themselves. That show killed! And that was the best drumline Phantom's EVER had! I dare say even better than those of the days of Marty Hurley and Sir Ticks-a-Not himself, Lee Beddis! Quote
Claritone Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 PR '89 is the greatest show to ever grace the fields of drum corps... Quote
euro_euph06 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 The best show never to win a gold medal is by far the Madison Scouts of 1995. darn!!! Just to name a few others: 1) BD 04 and 06 2) SCV 87, 88, and 98 3) Cadets 95 Quote
Xukaniz Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I wouldnt definitely have to agree with Phantom Regiment '06. As said in previous posts, Cavaliers were the better corps but it is the best 2nd place show I have seen. Quote
thesnareguy Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Phantom Regiment 1996. Awesome show. WAY better than 1996 BD. Quote
Skippy Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Cavaliers weren't the better corps on finals night. Although, that encore performance they did was WAY BETTER. Quote

Hang on now, Phantom Regiment 96 TIED with BD 96.....this is a discussion on second place corps, not ties. BTW, NO MORE TIES! NO MORE TIES! And that show WAS way better than BD 96, but is still irrelevent to this discussion. Quote

DesertWind Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Well, the thing is, what does one mean by "best"? If you're asking more of how pleasing/cool the show was... then Star '93 probably isn't the choice. Abstract is kind of an understatement. It's not something you can exactly groove to. It was clean though. Very. Clean. Being 0.1 behind Cadets doesn't mean much. That's like a left hand diddle in the battery. And if I'm not mistaken, the mellophone line got a 100 at I&E that year. DesertWind Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Amen to that part, Skippy. But I was talking about the show in general. Quote

And your absolutely right about the mellophones too. Quote
