Clear Brook.Did anyone see these guys at BOA Pearland? They're getting really good. I'd say that they're as good as Churchill and Westfield and pretty close to Reagan. Wanted to know what you guys think.

Hmmm...Well, he's just trying to go off the original ballet from Rite of Spring. The girls in that dance themselves to death...

And, I promise, he wold be in no way embarassed no matter what kind of reaction he gets ^_^

the visual package needs help if you ask me, the guard needs to be more of a presence on the field, one thing that did bug the crap out of me was the guy in the guard. great performer no doubt .....but TONE IT DOWN! We get it!

If the viusal package needs more presence on the field--why should he tone it down? Because he's good and is potraying the music.

So I assume by saying "we get it" you understand the music (Rite of Spring) and ballet by the same name? I doubt that very seriously. They used him instead of a soloist girl--because of his experience and his abilities.

Did it bug the crap out of you because he's actually good?

As far a the splits go--how many guys do you know that can do a full out and out split. Believe me not many--nor many young ladies for that matter.

FYI--He marched the last two years with the Cavies (2005 (Cavies took 2nd) & 2006 (World Championship). He was 16 his 1st year.

No it bugged the crap out of me because he was so obviously flamboyant. I do not care if he marched the Cavaliers, SO DID I! When I marched Cavaliers we were encouraged to perform with masculinity not be complete flamers on the field. You said he was portraying music....well I didn't exactly hear Clear Brook playing ABBA's "Dancing Queen". Take Churchill's male guard member, he performs very well and still keeps his masculinity. I know plenty of men and women that can do double turns and land in the splits, they are all dancers. I did not say he was a bad performer...he is a very talented young man. HOWEVER!!! A guy can dance and spin a flag and still be masculine.

/gets out a fire extinguisher...

But seriously, there's no need to be highly-flammable on a forum. Think through it and post without insulting people. That's not a lot to ask, and I'm not even the one asking it (Dese guys are).

Maybe he was a bit flamboyant, but if he wants to be, that's his choice. Just as it is yours to not like it. However, there's really no need to say he's a "complete flamer".

As far as the visual package is concerned.....my opinion is, it needed a little help. The color guard for the most part was poorly staged in many parts of the show. The flag line was scattered throughout and did nothing to accentuate the music. Therefore it is my opinion and yes we all have one that the visual package needed help. I never said I didn't enjoy the show......I was just stating MY OPINION.

I was going to reply--but it's just not worth it. Most of your post that I have read have a negative undertone to them. No sense discussing with negativity. Why don't you try and get to know him before you make a decision on his personality--you might be suprised. But in case you do know him--I would have to say something else pushed your button.

In addition to top notch colorguard skills, your posts also indicate that you have an astute mastery of tact and respect.

People give good and bad reviews all of the time. People also get praised or slammed for performances all of the time. Art is subjective. You should know this you are after all in band.

Calling someone a "complete flamer" is not giving a bad review, it's completely disrespecting them as a person.

NO that would be critique of his performance.

I personally LOVE clear brook's show this year - I'm a huge fan of the "Rite Of Spring" and It was shockingly musical for marching - AND they didn't just park and play like many bands these days do (one of my pet peeves). REALLY REALLY enjoy them and Cedar Park this year.
