DrummerDrummer Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I am not sure who will advance from Area E, here is who has a chance.... Langham Creek (Almost a lock) Clements (Good Chance) Cy-Fair Stephen F. Austin Cy-Creek Cinco Ranch Yes I know I did not give SFA as good of a chance as other schools, but based on several factors, this is what I think. Quote

LD Bell, Richland, Haltom, Hebron, Martin, Marcus, Newman Smith, Plano East, Lewisville, among many others that I can't remember off the top of my head. It's going to be a bloodbath. I love it. I'm definitely going to be at the finals that night. Not to mention Mansfield, Mansfield Summit, and Duncanville I believe. Quote
Xenon Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Duncanville and Coppell moved to Area C. Quote
Xenon Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 Area B bands in performance order: Bold = Finalist Prediction Italics = Possible Finalist Prediction * = Advancement Prediction ** = Possible Advancement Prediction RL Turner Burleson Flower Mound Plano ** Wylie ** Martin ** Richland Paschal * LD Bell Colleyville Heritage Grapevine Mansfield Lewisville * Marcus Lamar * Haltom * Hebron Plano West Granbury ** Allen (Totally depends on the judges) Arlington Southlake Carroll North Crowley ** Summit Timberview ** Plano East Bowie Creekview Newman Smith Dang, there will be a lot of good bands that won't even make Finals at this competition. PearlandTKA89 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Does any one know the Area F bands? I saw the list at the TMEA website... but I went to some of those bands websites (like woodlands, klein, etc) and they have a date set for the Area G contest...and im really confused... if anyone know for sure, thanks a bunch!!! -from Pearland HS band Quote
Hawkeye Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 TMEA's area classifications are different from those of UIL's. Go to http://office.tmea.org/align06/index.htm and type in the school district name or select the region that the school is in to get the UIL Region, Area, TMEA Area, or ATSSB Area classifications. PearlandTKA89 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 ahhaha yeah I just went there.. i kinda get it....Ill just find out wednesday or something Quote
VRHSRangerTBone Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 This rule is kind of interesting...I found it on the UIL website. Has anyone heard of this happening? "In addition any band that receives a ranking of three or higher from two of the music judges and one of the marching judges will also advance to state." This is in addition to the 5 bands who advance in an area of 25 bands, for example. So even though there are 25 bands, 6 or even 7 still have the possibility of advancing. I can see this happening in Area B since there is so much competition and the judges are more likely to be more sporadic in their scoring. Quote
Xenon Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 I believe that it was actually used in 2004, but I don't remember for whom. The State Finals version of that rule was also used in 2000 causing there to be 8 bands in Finals instead of the normal (at the time) 7. Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Pretty much exactly how it said. If a band receives, say, a 3, 2, 8 in music and a 3, 11 in finals but ends up in 6th place with only 5 advancing bands, said band would also advance. Quote
Clarinet_Lover41 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 OKAY that makes sense, I wonder how often it is actually used Quote
777bandman Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Has anyone seen the PESH show this year? I am part of the Band and we know the music is cool we just kinda think our show isn't the most exciting thing out there? Anyone out there seen it? If we show up we might have a shot at state! Quote
whitewing09 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 i thought it was if you place 1st by two music and one marching that you would advance automatically. but idk Quote

This was utilized in 2003 for 1A. Quote

trumpetman1288 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Man...apparently a lot of people from down here don't like us very much. Somewhere online, there is a picture that someone uploaded of our school's logo.... ...and instead, it shows the logo with a sword through our rattler's head with the bottom reading "Sharyland must die!" I could understand this for a football rivalry maybe, but for marching band? Kind of intense, eh? Quote

TubaRed_89 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 In Area B, don't count Colleyville Heritage out we have a really good chance of making the finals at Area, now wether or not we make state that is all in the hands of the judges. Looking at the block that we are in and the block right after us, I can pretty much tell you who will make state, most likely the 5 bands will come from these two blocks. I'm not counting anyone out I'm just going off past years and my experience. Good luck to everyone at Area!! Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Good luck to everyone in Area F! (especially Deer Park if they advaned because i know people in there..haha) Quote

He hid his competitiveness most of the time, but every once in a while it came out, usually in very odd ways too. Quote
