Serardian Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 One band short of sending 4! Ahh! Langham Creek, Cy Falls, Clements, SFA, how can you honestly pick only 3? I'm seriously having an emotional breakdown here. And I don't even go to any of these schools. Quote

Now that there is a greater depth in the talent of Texas Bands, the area realignment taking place this year is sure to stir up some controversy. Quote

Bell wasn't really good until 1998 (really 1999) and I think they went to State that year (I'm pretty sure that we walked by them on our way to the entrance ramp) but didn't make Finals. So, I don't think it could have been that year and the Rank Scoring system wasn't implemented until 1997, so it couldn't have been before that. DFife would probably know. Quote

Bell did not advance to UIL State Finals in 1998, mainly because of a spread in music scores. One judge had them in 1st, and another judge had them in 21st. The 21st place rank score kept them out of finals. The rule you are talking about was put in place after the 1998 UIL State Marching Contest. I have heard that it was implemented as a result of what happened to Bell in prelims, but I cannot confirm that as a fact. Quote
Xenon Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks for the clarification! You don't happen to know what all five of the judge's ranks were, do you? Quote
Dontforgettobreathe Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 How do you think Cy-Creek, Cy-Fair, Cy-Springs, and Jersey Village will do? Quote
Mr.k08 Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Area E is going to be one tough competition...I can smell the blood already Quote
Aegis Fang Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 So why don't they add another judge, then drop the highest and lowest scores. So you have 1,1,1,1,1,25 which, take out a one and the 25, and you're left with a good score from four other judges. Then nobody can complain that one judges screwed them over. Quote
