MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 it's tough to have a good field production with ALL the people that allan has, and they do a good job of it every year. it's just a whole lot easier for judges to notice mistakes and things when there are THAT many people on the field, and there's really no buffer zone for 'oh, it was clean for how many people are there'. it's either really clean or really not. allan wasn't as close as they have been in the past, though i will credit that to the realignment. at the same time, i will give them props for being good and entertaining at the same time... the bigness of their band is often intimidating and a lot of people enjoy watching their shows. a lot of bands got 'robbed'... tha "B" is way too ba for it's own good, lol. and people who feel robbed need to reassess and realize that if you made finals, you're obviously doing something right. the rest is really out of your control. MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I think your time would be better spent in english class rather than practicing your doubles. LMAO Quote
PunkAsAMonk Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 can you say ****? thanks I don't think I was any more of an **** than the 2 kids that degraded themselves and others to make up for their own shortcomings. Point being, if you insist on saying rude things about another band, correct spelling and grammar will make you appear at least vaguely legitimate. Also, flaunting what band you are a member of in your signature is probably not a smart idea either. Quote
Warfact Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 anyone know why they announced top 5 in alphabetical order? i'v never heard of that happening before. my only thought is the announcor didnt want to anounce bell as 2nd. please tell me if you know why? cuz i kinda think it was rude to allen ans us (creekview) when they started with the letter "H". also, why did they start announcing with the alternates? we were all holding hands and it was tense while awaiting the advancement announcements, when they say, "The alternates are Newman Smith and Summit"..... that just kind of ruined the moment for us and immediately we all looked at eachother and said "OH okay! yeah!"... then we had to sit through and listen to the advancement announcements while everyone cheered. that's just my opinion though, that it ruined that feeling of anticipation while waiting to see if they'll say your name for state. MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 now THAT's ****. they shouldn't do that. Quote
Clarinet_Lover41 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 They did that last year in 4A, too.. Smith we know how you feel. Quote
Warfact Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 i think the best way to announce that would be to start with the 1st place and go down, that way it won't do what it did to creekview and allen with the alphabetical announcing, and it will still give everyone that feeling of anticipation Quote
Clarinet_Lover41 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 This wasn't the only region that did that! Quote
MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 hey does anyone know the rank points or where i could find them? Quote
JagDad09 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I will say this - of the shows in the finals, the two most entertaining were Allen and Marcus, and they finished#10 and #1. Of course, (entertaining.ne.highscore) Quote
Warfact Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 so has anyone written any thoughts or reviews yet for area b? Quote
MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 yeah i've been wondering the same thing, lol. i'm all antsy in my pantsy... especially cus i wanted to go... dang stupid shsu football game that we LOST. Quote
T-view_tuba_player Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 i was just wondering what people thought of our show (timberview) this being our first year in 5A and at 5A area. also this is only the our third year in excistance. Quote

eliz_the_mexican Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 mmk so what what exactly happend to letting go of guard flags creekview was definately the olny guard in finals who threw multiple doubles well even threw one double for that matter frankly i'd like to see good bands (the ones who made finals) go back to the military tradition of using weapons and flags Insted of just probps *caugh* marcus* caugh* there needs to be a standard of difficulty set for guards thats all i have to say oh yeha but also congradulations to those bands who made it they were freeking awesome even if there guards were'nt hard core. there showes were still somewhat entertaining (mabey not exciting and fast pased) but entertaining none the less. may i remind you marcus also went out there and threw a hot quad and five on rifle out there and smacked the heck out of those catches. i wouldnt be degrading the marcus guard they are absoultey amazing dancers and are incredible with their equipment, despite the fact they are rather "proppy" this year i still think they are amazing. i mean look at their winter guard show from last year....INCREDIBLE! so yea..but i heard creekview did pretty well didnt get a chance to see yall but i have some friends in their band and guard and they felt pretty good about thier show. MRS. IaN KiNSLeR Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 what about finals a finals recap? Quote
Majic Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 i was just wondering what people thought of our show (timberview) this being our first year in 5A and at 5A area. also this is only the our third year in excistance. I remember getting to see you perform at Tournament of Champions two years ago, and being really impressed with the band for such a small size. I can only assume you've gotten better since; best of luck in the years to come Quote

From one Mansfield band (Summit) to another (Timberview), I have nothing but positive things to say about Timberview. I rooted for you guys since the beginning. You get better each and every year, and you guys are extremely good marchers. I really like Timberview a lot, and I think they can do some damage in Area B in a few years. Quote
Fortisimo Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I really enjoyed Timberview's show, and it seemed quite clean to me. Perhaps the only advice I would give is to not be so careful- it sounds like you all are scared to let loose a little and put volume out there; it's good to get loud at the right points to build excitement and dynamic contrast. But yeah, ya'll are lookin' pretty good I would say. Quote
MartinHorn Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Oh yes I forgot to add in, while we may not agree with the judges final placements, they are what they are, so just cheer for your favorite band or bands at State and hope they win. Oh, and while you may not like what the Marcus colorguard does, you have to recognize the fact that they are good at what they do. Quote
andysoccer Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I was actually only talking about the finals performance. Quote
Xenon Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Actually, your ranks were apparently 4/4/10 4/9 Showing that you had good music performance (notwithstanding the one judge) and the marching judges disagreed with your marching (I would have had y'all around 6th or 7th in marching for the night). Quote
The Richland Trumpet Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Oh so much to say. First of all, this reminds me nothing more than when we were all 5 and when one kid hurt the other kid's feelings, he packed up his/her toys and ran home. 2nd of all, for those of you whining about "they should announce in this order so it doesn't hurt our feelings," is pathetic to say the least. 3rd of all, congratulations to all bands who performed and to those advancing to State, it's going to be a tough year. I was personally pulling for Colleyville Heritage but I have somewhat of a bias. Let's just say I think their guard is phenominal Quote
