Any Comments? Quote
Tnilli Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I'd assume (random order) 1) College Park 2) Spring 3) Brazoswood 4) The Woodlands 5) Pearland Quote
Serardian Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Well there's 26 bands, so it looks like 5 advance. Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Westfield Droped out of UIL this year. Quote
PearlandB8908 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 uuuhhhhh are you sure its 5??? our bd told us 4 hi domonique!!!!!! Quote
PearlandTKA89 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 hi martin and its *dominique. lol but yeha, im rather confused on how this advancing stuff works... but i hope its 5!!! Quote
whitewing09 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 its 1 out of every five bands isnt it. gosh i hope so theres 25 in our Area so i really want them to advance 5 Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 For every 5 bands that make it to Area, 1 goes on to state to represent that area. Since 26 bands made it into area F, 5 bands will move to Area. That means that the top half of the finilst will make it to area. There are other circumstances that will get you to state, but it is confusing and rarly happenes. Quote
PearlandB8908 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 lol sorry i cant spell worth poo i hope they do 5 too Quote
zman5305 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 . AAAA/AAAAA Certification. In Conferences AAAA/AAAAA the music area shall certify the two bands receiving the highest ranking in each conference to the State Marching Band Contest. Should fifteen or more bands participate in a single conference at the area contest, one band for each five bands competing in the contest shall be certified for advancement to the state contest. so what does this mean? 5to5 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Tnilli said: I'd assume (random order) 1) College Park 2) Spring 3) Brazoswood 4) The Woodlands 5) Pearland Well, looking at scores/ results from the last few competitions (BOA Houston, namely), Clear Brook has beaten College Park and Pearland by a considerable number of points. Clear Lake also topped Brazoswood in another competition. My predicitions for top three are (in no particular order): Woodlands Brazoswood Spring The next two spots could very easily go to any of the following bands: Klein Clear Brook Clear Lake Woodlands College Park Pearland Quote
ikilledabird39 Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 College park also beat spring and brazoswood at Loan Star Preview by a considerable number of points, so really, this Area is a toss up all together Quote
5to5 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I hadn't heard that...interesting. Well, I'm just crossing my fingers that my band makes state this year. We missed it by a tenth of a point last time. Quote
n3rdu5 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 This area is gonna be CRAAAAAAAZY. I agree, the 5 advancing bands is going to be a toss up. kinda hard to predict! I can't wait. and also yes, Westfield isn't doing UIL this year. not sure why. anyone know? Quote
PearlandTKA89 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Yes that is true with the BOA comp. and what not... but isnt the judging totally different??? Have you noticed... Clearbrook has made BOA top 10 but has never made state (or at least not 2 years ago) Pearland has NEVER made BOA but always made state.... Iono about brazoswood but there good both ways... Its like BOA is 60% GE 40% marching or something and UIL judges totally opposite. BUT , you never know!!! im quite excited about this competiion.!!!! good luck to all Quote
n3rdu5 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I've always split it like....BOA = more GE/visual/etc, while UIL = more playing/marching/etc. something like that, haha. Quote

PearlandTKA89 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 yea..andi think it was top 4? im thinkin Brazos, Clements, SFA and pearland (dont ask how i remembered that....) Quote
aoyana Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 http://twhsband.com/Boosters/Fundraisers/L...P2006_Recap.htm has the results from Lonestar (Random: My post count keeps not working for some reason? I've posted more than twice) Quote

Tnilli Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Rawrr...you should refrain from posts like that. I dont know why spring people keep brining up lonestar...get over it already mmk? First the other kid now you arguing the SAME thing. And dont even bring up the Judge thing...because if anything GEIGER was a judge for GE (you know...director at Westfield for over 20 years..) As goes the judging style...this area is very much up in the air because of the simple fact we havent seen any sort of UIL style competition from these bands yet. BOA scores are really pointless because GE is such a HUGE factor. I believe for UIL the format is 3 music judges and 2 visual judges. Locks: Spring - Because they took music at LSP. Music is a HUGE part of UIL and taking it from brazoswood and westfield was something impressive. Woodlands - Just good. I'm not sure how the voice thing will go over in UIL but we shall see. College Park - Took visual at LSP. That will get the job done if they have another solid run. I see those three moving on with solid runs. Brazoswood is solid musically so they will most likely push another spot, the last one i have no idea though. Quote
ttu48 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i hope brazoswood makes it i like them they are nice Quote
