Drummer Chick Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I dunno, personally, I think Basoons should all play in the pit during marching season. Seriously, our 4th marimba player is a basoon player during concert season, and he's amazing on the marimba, probably partially because he's in the pit because he wants to play music and not because he didn't make battery. I don't think you should march bassoons (notice there are 2 "s"es). But that doesn't mean they should all be in pit. We have 4 bassoons and one oboe on sax. And they actually play, too. In fact, last year a senior oboist was also in the sax quartet. Talk about skill... Quote
Xukaniz Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 That is illegal..... Its against UIL rules....so are oboes....you cant do that, its far too dangerous. Quote

Drummer Chick Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I was mostly kidding when I said they should all play in the pit, there's enough competition among the percussionists for parts as it is... Quote
