SHSfreshmanSNARE07 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Congrats Bands, good luck at state!!! Quote
Devon Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 So sad... i think there is a band that we should have definitley done better than... but who cares. Even though we didn't make State, we still made Area Finals, and that is darn good. I am very proud of our band for everything we have done. We deserved every moment we got out there, and so does every other band out there. Congrats to all the [["winning"]] bands. Quote
hebrontuba08 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 area B was great yesterday, but i wish there was another advancement spot, there are a lot of great bands around here. Quote
SpringSax41 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 area F was good. Or, what I was able to see of it was... Our directors only let us watch four bands... But what we did get to see was really good. Quote
Band_Freak Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 It truly is a shame that too many talented bands had to go home, but wow what a fun day that was. Quote

Then we went back to our bandhall, chilled for 2 hours, ate lunch, had a 2 hour rehersal to fix our prelims mistakes. We came back to RRISD stadium for the last 3 performances, then when they announced finalists we were quickly herded out of the stadium to warm-up block, cause we drew first. How did that happen, btw? Second in prelims, and first in finals?? Bad luck for Leander. Rumor is (dont know for sure) that we only lost to Akins by .02. Quote

I didn't know we were that close. If only we hadn't drawn first! Even if we lost by more, we didn't have much luck that day, except that everyone was concentrating on the performance, unlike they usually did. It was a great way to end the marching (competition) season anyway. Quote

Mculbert07 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Akins made me very happy. They were so supportive of everybody in finals. Every band they saw they all yelled out "Go (Performing Band)!" I love seeing stuff like that. Quote

PlayOboe Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I don't have the rank points in front of me, but Leander was very close to Akins. If I remember correctly, two music judges had them in. Quote
Warfact Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 yeah, i just wish one more band from Area B would have made a 1 at UIL so there would have been a 6th state spot, therefore, we would have been the 1st alternate instead of the 2nd alternate ;D Quote
