lionbc Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Our school marches bass clarinets, but not bari saxes. How about yours? Also, any instruments that you march that not a lot of other bands march? Quote
D.M Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 We march one Bari Saxophones and two Bass Clarinets. Quote
rdzsaxplaya Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 This year is actuley the first year in a long time that we marched a low-reed....Bari Sax to be specific EDIT://Forgot to mention the 2 Tenors we march...but we always ave 2 tenors marching so yeah... Quote
lionbc Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 Wow. Our band has 8(5 guys and 3 girls) bass clarinets, and about 6 tenor saxes, but sadly no bari saxes, although I'm sure some of our altos and tenors would love to. Two of our bass clarinetists(that makes 10 bc's total) are on clarinet right now, and atleast 3 of our tenors are bassoonists(our other one is on alto). I might be corrected on this by some other LHS people, because I'm not sure of the number of tenors. Quote
barisaxy08 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 we DEFINITELY march Bari Sax/Tenor Sax/Bass Clarinets at Westfield one year we marched with 4 bari saxes. What would a woodwind section be without a bari sax on the field??? Quote
rsb3 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 We march 1 Tenor Sax and 3 Bass Clarinets. Quote
lionbc Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 All of our bassoonists are expected to be able to play their tenor/alto saxes. Of course they're not expected to be as good as the people who have been playing them for a while, but still. Same thing goes for oboes. They march flute or pit(2 of ours in pit, 1 in flute). The only time you probably wouldn't march and play at our school is if you switch from woodwind-brass or vice-versa, such as I did my sophomore year(bass clarinet to mellophone, quite a difference). Oh, and most of our bass clarinets don't march with neckstraps. 6 out of the 8 march without. Myself and a freshman use them (I'm a clutz, so I had to take the necessary precautions, but I have gone neckstrapless before). Some of our saxophones have tried to go without, but got in trouble by the directors, or so I've heard. I never saw the people I heard about try to do it, but I'm sure it would be great. Quote
Mculbert07 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 4 Tenors 4 Bass Clarinets 3 Baris One year I think we had about 5 Baris. Quote
MmCheezItsYay Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 we stopped marching bass clarinets last year and added them back in this year, but they supposedly keep breaking like every day so we dunno if theyre gonna stay we do march tenors, no baris though..i think Quote
Nancy08 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 WE NEED BARIS!!!!!!! Even if I couldn't march it... Next year our sax section should hit 20, so I'm not sure we've much of an option. Of course, that's with min 5 double reeds. At one point we had 9 tenors, but it's dwindled to 6. Quote
PearlandB8908 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 in total we have 10 bass clarinets but march 8 Quote
Arabella Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 We march two bari saxes, three tenor saxes, and three bass clarinets at Paschal. Quote
Shiloh Phoenix Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 we have 3 or 4 bass clarinets, and 1 bari. although he's one of my best friends, and can really honk the crap out of that thing Quote
gavinrh Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I wish I marched a low reed instrument.....Not really. I want to march mellophone. Quote
CuteClari08 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 yaa my school has tenors, baris, and of course, the lovely bass clarinets. OMG...i cried inside when i read lionbc saying that they didn't march with neckstraps. I am a tiny little girl. that neckstrap is VITAL. Quote
bored2damax Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I think we seguin, 8 Bass clarinets but only marches 7, we have 3 bari sax but only 2 march( the other one is a colorguard), and 4 tenor but marches 3(one is in colorguard and have a soprano/alto solo during the ballad) and double reeds we have are all in the cymbal line. So we have an all girl cymbal line and an all girl snare line. I dont think tht has ever happened before. Quote
jbrih13 Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 We have 6 bass clarinets (including me) and we all march. We have 2 baris this year (4 last year) they all march and 4 tenor saxes and they all march. the low reeds are strong here....we even made cool shirts last year that are like "Drop it like its hot (front)...Get low with the low reeds (back)" and we have like ghetto pics of everyone together on the front and we made up ghetto names on the back (mine said Jordan aka Aquanisha) its was sooooooooo funny . Good times, good times. Quote
Drummer Chick Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 We march Bass Clarinets and Tenor sax's I don't think we march baris, but don't quote me on that, I don't know numbers, not being a low reed myself Quote
robs3889 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 over here at bush we have 1 bari 3 bass clarinets and 2 tenors Quote
