In Grand Nationals, the prelims setup is carefully thought out. Most local bands go on Thursday, when bands a certain distance from Indy (I want to say 1,000 miles minimum) get a Friday performance date.

 

That way, TX and other "foreign" bands get a day to rest up before they perform.

Not true.

 

Directors are given all of their Grand Nationals information months in advance. Prelims times have been known to the directors for a while now. The Grand Nationals schedule isn't released to the public until a week or two prior to the event.
