yeah, i remembered that.

i wish marcus would go ahead and go. a lot of my friends(seniors) were really upset because they couldn't go this year. it's almost TOO much on a state year. not to mention going two years in a row would be REALLY hardcore(for a texas band) cus it's a stinkin' massive trip. cough*should be in texas and at the cotton bowl*cough.

i still like my first prediction the best(the alien one). cus we all know texas bands are BA enough to save the world.

It's my personal opinion that NO BAND can ever win Grand Nats and UIL State in the same year. It's impossible becuause the two styles are too different. What works for BOA does not work for UIL and vice versa.

....Hasn't that already been done? Granted it was back in the day (1993 if I'm not mistaken), but if I'm correct Spring won Grand Nats AND UIL State that year. I could've gotten the dates wrong, but if they're correct then it's not totally impossible for a band to win both state and grand nats.

No, there was no State competition in 1993.

UIL switched to the every-other-year format by the 90s.

But Spring did win the year before and the year after they won Grand Nationals.

Westfield and Spring went off and on with the State title.

That's not really a debatable issue you can have an opinion on. What happens, happens. And yes, what works for BOA does work for UIL. We'll see if LD Bell can pull it off both this year.

2004 UIL State Finals

1. LD Bell - BOA Arlington and St. Louis champion

2. Cedar Park - 4th at BOA San Antonio, 5th at Houston

3. Duncanville - Doesn't do BOA

4. Langham Creek - 8th at BOA Houston

5. Winston Churchill - BOA La Joya Champion, 2nd place at San Antonio, 4th at Houston

6. The Woodlands - 2nd at BOA Houston, 7th at Nationals

7. Haltom - 5th at BOA San Antonio, 3rd at Arlington

8. Ronald Reagan - BOA San Antonio Champion, 2nd at Arlington

9. Bowie - 8th at BOA San Antonio, 3rd at Houston

10. Clements - Hasn't done BOA in a while unfortunatly.

Is it a coincidence that the top 10 bands in the UIL circuit are the ones that dominate the BOA regionals? No.

that'd be pretty sweet if a band won BOA sa, state, and grand nationals... all in the same year. it'd have to be like a world record or something, and they'd probably have to check the band for juicers, lol. that probably won't happen though.

i could see reagan doing that... but i could also see a lot of other people doing that as well.

Its also possible for the Woodlands HS to do it this year....... they are doing all three and they have a pretty decent show..... But of course I want Spring to win state cuz that's my school but it will be pretty awesome to see how TWHS does at its 3 competitions in the next 2 weeks.....

where did they(the woodlands) finish in their area?

1 - Spring

2 - Brazoswood

3 - The Woodlands

4 - Klein

5 - Clear Brook

I really like The Woodlands' shows from the past 3 or 4 years; this one, not so much. But they have a good shot at doing very well.

their show last year was really cool. i haven't seen this year's though... i wanted to see it at arlington, but the person i went with couldn't find uta(even though he lives in arlington, the meatball). so, i missed them, but thankfully i got there just in time to see marcus... otherwise i would have been very angry, lol.

but i get to see pretty much EVERYBODY this weekend, so that'll be nice :)

I sat with some people from SFA at BOA Arlington, they said that they pulled out of GN. Because: Here's the kicker-instead of spending money on GN, they spent $8,000 on chairs.

That doesn't make too much sense to me.

But what do I know?

Not enough.
