bandnerd1230 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 So I'm pretty sure that there is not one topic that has just flutes or piccolos. Is anyone trying out for Region/Orchestra on piccolo? Quote
borchnork Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 mmm, i quit trying out for that stuff... didn't seem worth it. But I know of 2 people from my school trying out on picc. this year. Quote
borchnork Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 wow, us flute players talk a lot... maybe I should just start having a convo with myself. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I don't think there's many flutes on this site yet... well at least ones that post. My friend Jesi used to come here (she's a flute), but she stopped. Quote
borchnork Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 yah, that's usually how the story goes. my band had a forum, and each section has their own page, which are all nearly 14 pages long, but you look at the flutes and it's maybe 3...? Quote
borchnork Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Hahaha, I completely agree. I stopped doing region, so I'm GLAD! our section is soo catty and just b!tchy when it comes to placements and chairs and w/e. idk how to help alleviate the mood though. Quote
flutearmy Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 hey, i'm a flute/picc player from cedar park. where are ya'll from? i know this was started for last year, but you're right, there aren't a lot of flutes players on this site. i'm going to area on piccolo, so do any of you know what the competition is going to be like? i've never gone to area before, and this is my first year trying on picc, so idk how good everyone else will be. is anyone from your school going, or has gone in the past, so i know what i'm up against, and are any of you going? Our (Creekview) piccolos OWNED (got 1st and 2nd chair) at possibly the hardest region in the state and were the only ones advancing to area. One is a sophmore and it's her first year to tryout on piccolo and the other is a junior who missed state by two or three chairs last year. The sophmore beat the junior. So depending on what area you go to, watch out! Quote
GARRETTxFLOWERS Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 edit to my last post: the junior was one chair away from state last year =] Quote
borchnork Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 We had our picc player make 2nd chair. THey changed the number of advanced piccolos to only 1 from our region though at the last minute. It was really unfair to our piccolo player, because she would have technically made it. Quote
flutearmy Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 wow that really stinks for her. hey, GARRETTxFLOWERS, what area is creekview in this year? you got me a little nervous Quote
borchnork Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I'll be at Creekview tomorrow! Region Orchestra concert! Anyways, I think they changed numbers on people that made region band as well this year for us. We had 10 my freshman year, last year they took 7, and I think they took 9 this year... weird how those numbers don't stay consistent. Quote

And if you're in the Symphony Orchestra, the piccolo player is ours. Quote

With all of the Marcus, Hebron, Collyville Heritage, and Flower Mound kids too. Quote
flutearmy Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 yeh, see then you're in a different region than i am. its so complicated; our region changed and i don't know who i'm going up against at my area, but if your area is in abeline, i don't think i'm gonna go up against you. unless we both make state Quote

I don't play flute/piccolo. My friends do. That's who I was talking about. Quote

flutearmy Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 thanks! it was so much fun, since it was so different from what we normally do whenever i see a smiley face, i think of our show wat was ur show from this year? is it on youtube or anything? Quote

It was the "marionette show" as everyone referred to it as. It's on youtube just type in Creekview Band 2007 and it should be the first and second videos. I personally like the second one better. It was the first contest of the season. And yeah it's like crazy easy drill because we have new directors this year and they didn't know what we could handle. Last year's show was WAY better in my opinion plus the guard is WAYYY better also in the '06 one (we just lost our guard instructor and a bunch of people also). Type in Creekview Band 2006 and it's the first one if you want to see last year's show (the one that almost got into finals at BOA SA in '06). But there were only 12 spots that year and there are normally 14 (we got 14). They are NOTHING compared to Cedar Park. Quote
flutearmy Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 i just watched the first one from 2007. i really like your theme! it was cute it sucks that you lost so many people. i can't imagine what our band would be like if we didn't have our director with us... the good thing about easy drill is that you can make it very clean, and yours was so thats good how did this show do at competitions? Quote
flutearmy Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 hey, i just watched the 2006 show, and i really liked it. the music, the drill was all really cool, and i especially like the brass ensemble. i really liked that a lot! Quote
