barisaxy08 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I jus wanna know wat do you band people do for fun together??? Sometimes we have a lil free time before/after rehearsal so we tend to find thing to do amongst each other. One thing that Westfield Band does is play dodgeball outside against the band wall...it has had times to where it has gotten intense and lasted until like 2 hours after practice...it's pretty fun though. Directors get involved and it becomes a really fun event. Oh yeah...we also play touch football on the field sometimes, too. We have a band football team (who defeated the Spring JV team on their field PLAYING TACKLE). Plus...since there are a lot of black people in our band...we tend to freestyle on bus rides and do "sha-boo-ya's"...haha So what does your band find fun??? Quote
Gltokensp06 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Oh so you guys actually did the football thing huh? Nice job. And i've been know to do some really harsh Sha-boo-ya's on people. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Gosh we do alot of stuff, lol. Sometimes I think we have more fun that we should... but yeah it's usually just random stuff we find funy. Quote
rdzsaxplaya Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Well today our director brougt his Xbox and we played A Halo Contest in the Band Hall, Pretty intense! Quote
casey! Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 haha shabooyas... i was pretty amazing at those. i wonder if i've lost my skill being that i've been away from the westfield band scene for 6 months and all... Quote
Arabella Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 The guys (and the girls, if they want) usually play football before performances. For UIL, they got to school at 4 AM just to play. On our bus we play the "who would you rather" game. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Some people play football (we could probably beat our varsity team this year...they are 0-6 in district), wall ball, and ultimate frisbee. Whenever directors are gone, we have nothing to do, or when the end of the year comes around, we will bring DDR, Halo, and Smash Bros and play. We have had a number of SSB tournaments..... Quote
actualgirltrombone Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 We have staring contests with the LD Bell drumline at retreat at BOA SA. Quote
LeanderBass5 Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 We talk about sex and other vulgar things, hit each other. and make fun of each other. One time we played football though. Was pretty fun, until our band director told us to stop. Quote
Drummer Chick Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Having an enormous band means that there's really no set thing to do for fun, we have kind of fads in entertainment, and they tend to be pretty strange, since they usually start in the drumline, for instance the "invisible dart" game went araound for a while, it started out as the pit against the cymbals, where you would make eye contact with your target and hold your hand to your mouth and make a sound, they then had a "dart" in their neck, and had to lie on the ground until someone pulled the dart out, the only defense was to either avoid eye contact, or hold you hand over your neck so you couldn't be shot, the Cymbal captain walked around school for a week with his hand continually on his neck, it got pretty stupid, especially when the entire band- all 600+ of them started doing it, and then it spread to the rest of the school, but it got kind of pointless after that, because most people didn't understand the game, they just pretended they did. The Drumline likes to quote movies, and try to stump other drumline members on which movie they're from. (I always lose, I haven't seen very many good movies, and no one watches the classics ) Quote
Serardian Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Hahaha, I absolutely love Allen. Are you guys the largest high school in terms of enrollment in the US? Quote
Drummer Chick Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I think they entered it for the Guiness world records, but it's almost certain as far as anyone knows that we're the largest high school marching band in the country, possibly the world, but there's no way to know for sure. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 football outside the bandhall, but only starting this week - if we get hurt without dying during marching season, the director would hunt you down and kill you... Quote

LordGiggles Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Aside from the enjoyment we get from contests and football games, our band program usually tries to plan a non-required social event once per every six week grading period (6 in total ) and in the summer. Usually this could be anything from a pool party, a DCI Trip, a Banquet, A general Party, a Lock-in, and of course our Spring Trip. Quote

ClaireAnnette07 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Some of the guys (mainly trumpets) play football either in the huge grassy area in front of our school or in the soccer field. Others (aka--the ones with CARS) go to Taco bell and some end up going to CVS Pharmacy next to the school for last-minute gift buying for the Good Sportsmanship League (gee, I wonder who that is...?) They used to be really fun but this year there not as great. We also take trips to DCI and to watch the state comp. and things like that. Quote
