If performed well, you can never go wrong with it. Other than that, I really haven't heard the others . It takes a while to work out the technicality of TS, but months of hard work and practice will be fine. Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 update on us: Movement for Rosa seems like it's going to be our grade 5 sightread - Shepard's Hey - very fun piece, possible 4. looked at a sousa march Quote
smoke_dawg_08 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Russian Christmas Music by Alfred Reed, Christmas In the Round by Robert W. Smith(this song is so fun), playing some Sleep by Whitacre, and read Snow Caps by Richard Saucedo Quote

ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 we are set on: Movement for Rosa Shepard's Hey Blackhorseman Troupe (Sousa) is not set yet, but we have the music Quote
titancoaster Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 So far we are playing... A Movement for Rosa and Escapade Escapade is kinda new, but its really fun. Its got a funk and a jazz section in the middle of the song, its a pretty difficult song. Quote
whitewing09 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 wow we havent even looked at concert music yet... but then again we havent even started the second semester lol Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 We've been sightreading some things, but I don't know what we're going to play for concert season yet. I think we MIGHT play another Sousa march this year, though, but otherwise, I have no clue! Quote

That's a deceptively difficult march. I love it, though. I love most of Sousa's marches. Quote
MartinHorn Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 We might play Vesuvius by Ticheli and maybe Bolero. Quote
sax5warrior Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Pentland Hills Introduction and Fantasia and uhh...Themes from the Green Bushes??? i dont remember, and my folder is in the car. Thats our tentative UIL pieces Quote
bandtheaternerd00 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 The College Park High School Wind Ensemble will be performing Molly on the Shore La Procession du Rocio Boys of the Old Brigade Quote
bored2damax Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Well right now we are wroking on our Winter Concert pieces. For that concert we are playing Fanfare for a Festive Day, Traursinfonie, In the Center Ring, and Marche Militaire. The march militaire is also going to be our march for UIL. Oh this is the Seguin Wind Ensemble btw. Also we are going to be sightreading 2 pieces next week and we choose one of those 2 and the other piece for UIL is coming in. We can only rent the last piece because our BD said that its really good that you cant buy it and own it. So thats what we have so far. Quote

bored2damax Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Molly on the shore was alright i guess. i didnt really like it that much when we played it last year. i like shepherds hey better. dont know why. anybody playing blue shades this year??? just curious. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 We're playing that for the spring concert, I believe Quote
takigan Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Man I love Tempered Steel. It was the main theme for our field show in 2000 (the first and only year Georgetown has marched in the 5A State Marching Band contest). It's an awesome concert piece too, but only when played at a fast tempo....at the standard tempo it just sounds like any other piece with percussive brass (quite the compositional trend nowadays I might add). I don't know what Georgetown is doing this spring, but at Blinn we'll be doing Circus Franticus, Chiaroscuro by Robert Sheldon, English Folk Song Suite, either a Piano or Flute Concerto, some excerpts from Morceau de Concerte for Horn (with Horn soloist), along with either Four Scottish Dances or Carmina Burana I'm assuming. That's about it for our Spring Tour. Quote
whitewing09 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 i saw a band march with tempered steel purdy interesting stuff whose Robert Sheldon his name sounds so familiar Quote
barisaxy08 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 So far Westfield Symphonic is playing: Symphonic Metamorphesis - Paul Hindemith we were going to play something else...but it was too much already with having to play SM...it was like...something and fugue or something like that...kinda sad that i forgot...haha Quote
clarinetrocks Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Incantation and Dance and some other 2 Quote
pianomusicman89 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 right now, i think we're doing it, we're playing Dionysiaques. it's nothing short of amazing. i hope we can do it. Which one would you rather do: Linsolnshire Posy Dionysiaques Quote
