It would be fun to play: Pines of Rome El Camino Real ... Rhapsody in Blue Quote
bored2damax Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 We seguin are working on fundamentals right now. Well the low brass are, the woodwinds are sightreading and i dont know what the high brass is doing. Also we have a chamber concert instead of a band concert. We are going to have groups playing like the Wind Ensemble Brass, Wind Symphony Brass, and Symphonic Brass. All that stuff. Then after that we are going to have a Winter Concert in February, i dont know what song we are playing and then we finally get to pick our UIL pieces for this year. Quote
MartinHorn Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Yeah it's gonna be all Christmas music for us this time but I'm interested in what we're gonna play. Quote

Just to clarify... salvation is our winter concert piece. for contest we're playing the other three. On another note.... IM JEALOUS OF EVERYONE PLAYING MOLLY ON THE SHORE!!! I love that song. Quote
Shiloh Phoenix Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I have no idea what richland is playing, just that it's christmas concert music. last year we played a movement for rosa as one of our christmas pieces. I love the angry tuba ostinato part in the middle. and of course the beautiful french horn solo from we shall overcome at the end. that is a beautiful piece, but I'm afraid I'd get a bit tired of it if I had to do it all year. It wasn't that bad of a performance, but there were still some minor issues that another week would have helped out...but yeah, I loved that song. We are currently in the middle of band placements, so we still have no idea about what we are playing. Quote
Trumpeter07 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 So, i just found out today that the Cedar Park Wind Ensemble is deffinitly going to play: Trittico Molly on the Shore and Stars and Stripes Forever Quote

itsstephenyo Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I might be able to scrounge up an All-Region band recording of El Camino Real. I know that one of the 5A State bands played it last year, though. It's a heck of a lot of fun. Quote

We played that my freshman year in Wind Ensemble for UIL. The first movement woodwind runs are crazy... but it's a great song. Quote
dmcolby Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 The Dink hasnt given the Wind Ensamble anything to keep yet...but he hinted at Wagner??? Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted November 15, 2006 Author Posted November 15, 2006 we took another read on Molly and Tempered Steel today, but.... burke was really angry at the bass clarinet and bari sax, they couldnt play some simple rhythm in Molly and then the bari guy messes up the solo-type part in Tempered steel.. idk but for a while, i loved molly on the shore, and then i hated it, but now i kinda like it again...clarinet song i guess - can't part with it Quote
Serardian Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I love Tempered Steel. I know some marching bands have done it but I've never heard it on the field. Quote
saul091 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 hmmmm....concert season...so fo christmas, we're playing candide suite(auto fa de) or something like that. its "what a day" pretty cool. um...salvation is created, holiday for trumpets, and i think one other one.....pretty cool... Quote
teh_branday Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 ...i'm so jealous. i wish my director would even think to play stuff like that...the only time we really have so far was with Heroes lost and fallen...it was at least ...good. but that was last year.. we're still working with Playoff stuff since thats in less than two days, we'll see after the first game. we've been working with district music and christmas music for awhile now though. The only thing i can remember that we're playing so far now is Sleigh Ride...which is just fun to play. i wish i could remember the other two though they aren't worthy. Quote

bored2damax Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Men last year we played molly on the shore. IT was alright. The year before last year, we played October and Blue Shades. I love Blue Shades and October since then. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 For Christmas we have Russian Christmas Music, Pachabeles Christmas (I Love this one), and Varaiatians On An Old English Carrol. Quote
