Heh, you would think so at least. If they REALLY liked the show they may just keep it at that high score in some points. Idk, that is just what I've been told. It's not like they're SUPPOSED to do so, though it happens. It's even worse in DCI when judges get stuck slotting corps. One corp scores a 19.9 in music, though another is a lot better, thus they get a 20.0. Quote
joemac Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 just got back from Indi, and wow. Most amazing experience, our first year there, man. Quote

Yes, the woodlands went first back in 2004 and they droped from 4th place in semifinals to 7th in finals, droping them 3 spots. Same thing happened this year. They went first and droped 3 spots. shmily1130 Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Just a question for someone to hopefully answer. Have there been other bands that make finals their first year going to Grand Nats? I'm really interested in this. Congrats to all the Texas bands, and Broken Arrow. 'Twas amazing! :-) Also, thanks for all the bands there that cheered for us. Especially Churchill. We saw them a lot. :-D It was awesome to see all the Texas bands cheering for each other and clapping for each other in the halls and whatnot. And to see other bands from other states congratulate other bands, say good luck, and all that jazz. So, thank you all for that! Quote
GuitarJoe Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Westfield placed 2nd their first year, and Bell placed 4th their first year. I know there are plenty more, but I'm at work right now and can't really research it... Quote

For example, at a normal BOA event, the winner in prelims should perform last, 12-1 from prelims. At GN 12-1 from semi's. It just makes more sense to me to have the band that won prelims or semi's to have a slight advantage, but thats just me Quote
Dynasty Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 For Regional championships, the top 5 bands in Prelims get the last five performance times. For Super Regionals, they draw a spot for every band, and then just scratch off the bands that didn't make it for the finals performance order. Grand Nats is just as random... Sometimes its great, sometimes it isn't. But its random :-) Quote

I love hearing the people yelling GO TEXAS! :-) HAHA there are even people yelling TEXAS! FIGHT! Ha... Texas/Fight was the Connally Band. We had to show our support for the Texas bands that made Finals, right? Quote

Top half gets to preform in the later half of finals and lower half preforms in the first half of finals. Quote
titancoaster Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 All I have to say about GN is amazing! I never thought it would be as awsome as it was. The people are so friendly and the city is so clean. MY favorite part was getting to meet people from other bands. If any body from bell is reading this can you send me Caroline the clarinet player, i meat her at GN and would like to keep in contact, titancoaster@yahoo.com. The awards ceremony was really cool, and Bells new ending was so amazing and shocking, i still get goosebumbs. GO TEXAS!! Quote
bossman Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Back to that going first thing. It sucks and i hear that the judges have to keep the scores down so they won't get into a whole when judging the later bands, its a lose lose situation for the first performers. Quote
bored2damax Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Also about Reagan's show this year, i heard that the reason their show is not the normal reagan that we know is that because their head director became the director of crossmen?? I dont know if its true but that is just what i have heard. Quote
