i'm getting a new mouthpiece for christmas and was wondering what brand gives a good sound but is still affordable. sorry but band does not completely control my parents' wallet. i've heard yamaha and laskey are good from my lessons teacher and the first chair in my section. anyone else have suggestions or reasons the yamaha or laskey mouthpieces are good?

i use FARKAS[spelling, thanks.] mc..

it's good in both high and low ranges. i tried giardinelli, didn't work for me because the rim wasn't soft enough.

definitely a farkas, they're really great mouthpieces.

yeah i have one of those but after marching season it's got nicks and scratches all over it. i also bought a schilke but it turns out they actually make trumpet mouthpieces so the rim is really wide and i can't make a very good sound on it.

if i were you, i'd go buy a new one. they're the best for a cheaper price....if you go to some music stores, ask to look at the discounted ones for about $30. some places have them, some don't.

I'm a fan of the Holton MDC, but you can play whatever you think makes you sound the best. A lot of my friends like the Giardinelli's, but that also goes along with the Conn 8D cult. I'm a Yamaha rebel.

O/T: Nice to see you like my horn icon I made a few years ago :P
