Let's talk about that one kid who gets the sucky jobs in marching band season.

well we have this one guy who is now a sophomore, and he was on the metronome this year. the year before he was an alternate. and then this year we had this one gurl who they didnt wanna give a spot too so she became the alternate section leader(l8r faked the clarinet).

lol...i remember when i was a freshman, they made me march trumpet (which i knew like 2 notes on.) So i had to fake the whole show. Let's just say, I was a strong marcher and only played two notes the whole show...pretty crazy

We never really had that back then. Instead, we usually had a person that got yelled at A LOT but still managed to not break down and check themselves into a Mental Hospital. We called it the Keeps A Lickin' And Keeps On Tickin' Award.

Well, we have several people who are banned to met.

Being banned to met is like the ultimate punishment..

Our alternates are usually the pack mules..

I feel sorry for them.. but we had more alternates take spots and learn shows. People just can't seem to pass their classes.

if you think about it, the metronome job is probly harder than just marching... you have to pay attention to the directors and drum major the whole time and if you make a mistake the whole band gets mad at you ... glad i was never a met person lol

There was this kid that basically shattered his ankle about three weeks before band camp started. So he was stuck on met. (His nickname is Dr. Beat, now.) And then, with maybe a week left in the season, we got all the sound equipment stuff, so he was "in charge" of that and worked the soundboard/synth for most of the show.

We had a kid pass out during Band Camp (very scary :o , in my section) and his doctor forbid him from marching this season so he got stuck on met.

speaking of passing out...my freshmen year...this girl "hyper-ventilated" so that she could get out of rehearsal...bad thing was was that an ambulance came...

funny story now...this girl thru up during fundamentals and she didn't know what to do so she tried to put the vomit back in her mouth... ...good times...gooooood times...

our met boy is some fish whose dad is a judge(thats besides the point), he cant march worth anything, anyways the little freashman boy who cant march and doesnt have a spot in the show so he works the met. a couple of weeks into this season our woodwinds werent loud enough during thier exposed section so our director got a bright idea to make the part into a flute solo. he had people try out and everthing, so all the flutes tryed out. the next day at practice during the second mvt. (the new flute solo) our met boy ran to a microphone and played his beautiful solo.

yeah, so our met boy ,who didnt have a marching spot, got a flute solo in our show....

Chic' date='Dec 15 2006, 11:46 AM'] we have a met boy, he cant march cuz of his religion but our directors still make him come to practice to work the met.

what religion would that be...cuz that's interesting...

we have superlatives like that for the person who got their name called out the most. it's called the s-31/lance eddleman award. lance is a sophomore that fell down last year at grand nationals.

haha right on the YAMAHA on side 1 too but at least he didnt fall, roll around for a while, then run to their spot during the hold and keep their horn down the rest of the movement...then have to use a wheel chair after the performance. what a way for a senior end their last season of marching band, wouldn't you say?
