escababe07 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 hi kids! i'm from allen theres 640 people in my band and we're a fire hazard in our band hall. no joke. if the fire marshal ever saw us, we'd get in trouble...aha... ...just look at the pic. Quote
escababe07 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 ohhh, you're in trouble! you misspelled my name! haha, everyone does, no biggie. Rachael. umm but yes. tis me. Quote
thesnareguy Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 HOLY CRAP those are some straight diags....lol Quote
escababe07 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 it's hard to do this pic. especially if you're tall, like me. it's all very orderly, they count off certain numbers and place you just how they want you. it takes about an hour for everyone to get in, so you stand at parade rest FOREVER! arg. but, it looks cool, so whatever, right? QuadraticBeats Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 We have drill using too many people to cut anyone at this point in our band program's development... I think my class is going to see the first particularly good and competitive season our senior year, though next year will still probably be good. I think the whole amount of cheering our little band on by Cedar Park and Leander is just funny... though I appreciate it, I still find it demeaning in that it seems that we're treated as the... "cuter?" band, and not a competitor. Or maybe we have a generally friendly relationship between the schools, at least in band. I prefer a perhaps 180-220 size band, or smaller if it can work that way. Enough size to cover the field, but still have individual movements high... not just how many steps you take. Quote
DanWeiss Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 El Paso Coronado usually marches 130 including guard and pit, and has maybe 20 alternates. That was 5 years ago, but I don't think much has changed. Before they opened Franklin HS 12 someodd years ago (the other EP westside HS), the program was much bigger, but still only marched around 130. A band of that size has more drill options and use of its field. CHS has always been Division 5A, and I think AAA for BOA. About 2,700 students enrolled (at the school, not in band, hehe). Quote
Babette Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 We have around 150, and probably less when we go back after winter break because the directors are supposed to be cutting about 20 people that are basically usless to the band. I think we are 5A I have no clue actually. I used to know though. Quote

Kason8002 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 We have somewhere between 180-190. Class 4A. Area C Quote

actualgirltrombone Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 whitewing09 said: What do you mean. your bands likes a 3A if i understand your question correctly... uil categories go all the way up to 5A depending on school size. BOA categories go up to 3A... i'm not sure whether it depends on band or school size. Quote

whitewing09 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 well i go to a 3A school we have like 160 in band but we only marched 140 for UIL. then. we only marched 120 for Football playoffs since everyone failed Quote
Aegis Fang Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I was about to boast about how our school had about 300 members in it last year, but that seems to be average. Then i saw the 600+ member band and thought... never mind. We did have 45 trumpets last year though =p Quote
Fortisimo Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 OUr band is average size for 5A, but our school itself is rather large; we have about 4000 students. Quote
T-view_tuba_player Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 next year our varsity group on the field will be 64 winds but with non-varsity combined it is about 100 mabye. oh and were going 5A next year in region 5 Quote
AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 You're going to LOL with me on this one. We have 118 members but it's growing. There's 85 freshmen coming. YEAH. We are 5A school. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 40 clarinets? WoW..anyway, we march about 90-ish, and around 10 in pit but we have more enrolled in band class itself-we just have ineligibilities and people who didn't show up for fish camp or whatever and people who just aren't involved in marching band. We're currently a 4A, but as of next year we're a 5A. What used to be a small town has grown tremendously (sp?) in the past year or two because new neighborhoods were built and apparently everyone who moved in has like, 3 high school-aged kids Quote
TRtrumpet Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 We have about 30 this year. Next year it shouldent change by much at all. We are a 2A school. Quote
Tx_state_euph_08 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 my band has a really low 130 compared to the other 5A High schools in the district...its sad that theres 900 students in the sophomore class and only 30 of them are in band Quote
