mbui Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 QUOTE (bossman @ Dec 8 2006, 08:42 AM) Is that guy (the announcer) an ex-director or sumthin? Bands of America has two announcers. Chuck Henson & Dan Potter. Chuck Henson does BOA Grand Nationals while Dan Potter does the Texas Regionals. Here's a bio for both: Dan Potter Dan Potter has been involved in marching band and drum corps for over 25 years. He is the announcer for many BOA and Drum Corps International shows nationwide and is the host of BOA's "Break Ranks" and DCI's "Field Pass" audio and video podcasts which cover the best in marching music. He's also been involved both as talent and as a producer for the network broadcasts of the DCI World Championships each August. He was drum major of the Geneseo Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Illinois from 1979-1981 and was a visual/marching tech for high school bands in Indiana and for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps of Toledo, Ohio prior to moving to Texas in 1988. At home in Dallas-Fort Worth, Dan is a radio news anchor and host. He is the recipient of numerous broadcast journalism awards. In 2000, Dan received the prestigious Radio-Television News Directors Association's Edward R. Murrow award for best radio newscast in the United States. Involved in the arts off the field too, Dan is on the board of directors of Creative Arts Theatre and School in Arlington, Texas. He's also served as the emcee for the Texas Wind Symphony and has been a guest conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony and other groups on several occasions. Chuck Henson Chuck Henson is celebrating his 18th year as the "voice" of Bands of America's series of Regional and Grand National Championships. His introduction to Bands of America began in 1984 when he was a Colorguard Clinician at the BOA Summer Symposium, held in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Chuck is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps Colorguard and was a proud recipient in the Madison Scouts Alumni Reunion Project, performing in Camp Randall Stadium at the 2006 Drum Corps International World Championhsips. After more than two decades as talent in the broadcast industry, his focus is now on growing a personal voice talent business (chuckhenson.net). He is a former Director of Operations and Talent for Metro Networks/Westwood One Inc., in Chicago, Miami, Orlando and Tampa Bay and holds a BA in telecommunications from the School of Journalism at the University of Kentucky. Chuck currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. Quote

Musical selections include "To Tame The Perilous Skies" by...some guy...arranged by Michael Klesh and Juan Carrera....proud to present in finals performance drum majors Jenny Yin, Kevin Davis, and Anna Pham. Drum Majors, is your band ready? Please wecome the Leander High School Marching Band!!! (Ahh!!! *applause*) Now those drum major names are easy, but somehow they still manage to mess them up. "Jenny Yin, Kenny Davis, and Anna Pam" They did that right before our area performances and everyone started chuckling around me. Dang, they broke my concentration! I was in the zone... Quote
shmily1130 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Haha, so one time, at a football game I think, the announcer guy was like, "... arranged by John Zarsky..." Which was awesome. Because, Zarsky is the solo trumpet guy. And Mr. Elam (one of the crazy band directors) was all like WHAT? Hm, go Zarsky. It was grand. And at one of the competitions, I think Area or something, they kept calling our head DM Lisa Glenn, which is her mother's name. (I think...) Quote
gavinrh Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 the UIL announcer at region usually messes up our introduction. "Rich-and High School" "and Evan Black...card." hahaha it was funny because at area they messed it up again and said "and Even Blackard." Quote
