zackee Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Does anyone know some good stuff that has to do with flight? A little bird flew into my ear and told me that that's what my high school is doing next year... also phantom is doing it for '07 so there must be some pretty good music based on it. Could you give me some names and composers? Quote

TX Suh-nare Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 At the 2006 BOA Concert Band Festival, there was a recently composed symphony piece premiered that was written about highlights of floght, from Icarus to Wright Bros. and beyond. I forgot the title and composer, but for a guy who hates themes in music, this piece is outstanding. If any1 can do research on it, I'll kiss your girlfriend for you. Quote

The piece you're talking about is "Sky Is Waiting" by Samuel Hazo. By the way, it should be.... "If any1 can do research on it, I'll let you kiss my your girlfriend for you." Quote

borchnork Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I know for a fact that "Turbine" was written based on John Mackey's fear of flying. Quote
gavinrh Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 really? I never wouldve guessed from just listening to it. Quote

Smith "Through Countless Halls of Air" Francis McBeth "Pegasus" from "The Spirit Sleeping" John Gibson That's all I can think of at the moment. Quote

borchnork Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 oh, ok. yah, it didn't remind me of flight at first either, but I went in and reread Mackey's notes on it, and it made sense. Quote
