gavinrh Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Why do they not have one? Because I was watching their show, and there's no tenor drum. Anywhere. Quote
drummerkid418 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 (edited) I've never noticed that before. Interesting. The only other band I know of that doesn't march tenors is Broken Arrow (and Tarpon Springs of course.) What are the advantages/disadvantages to not having tenors? A common opposition to having tenors on the field is that in a dome stadium, the tenor sound tends to get lost. Think about all those Grand National recordings and listen for the tenor line. It's definitely hard to hear them. Quote
springbassliner26 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Spring didn't use tenors this year. And, I gotta say, I actually kinda like it. Everything we play seems alot cleaner for some reason. But I'm not really sure about advantages/disadvantages. Quote
whitewing09 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 didnt haltom 04 keep switching to having alotta snares to having alotta of tenors in the show? Quote

Haltom's third movement in 2004 consisted of a six-man tenor feature (Although, there were times when it was only five or four people). Their last movement consisted of a nine-man snare line. Quote

whitewing09 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 lol i actually didnt notice it until my friend pointed out while we were watching. lol i had seen the show like 0238509 before and i didnt know Quote
barisaxy08 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 i remember noticing that Westfield didn't march tenors in 03...and when i asked about that...my directors said that the tenors sound would echo thru the RCA Dome quicker than any other sound and would possibly throw off the tempo for the other marchers if they heard them or something like that...so they didn't want to take any chances...so maybe that may be a reason. I dunno...it was a while ago. Quote
clarinetrocks Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 we didnt have tenors this year it sucked because i was so used to hearing them and like to me that what keeps me on beat and no one played them *i dont think anyone wanted too oh well it sucked! =[ Quote
Shiloh Phoenix Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 we could have done without our 2 tenors this year. I really wouldnt have noticed. Quote

EuphToth Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Both of our tenors are seniors this year and have been the only tenors for years... Makes me worry. Quote
