CHS King Mello Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 not a poll, because this is the truth. the end. -C Quote
Fortisimo Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 That's odd, because I am entirely sure that you are wrong. Quote
CHS King Mello Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 nope. I love Vanguard. really, I love them with all my heart. I love their 89 show. I believe that Phantom should have won in 89. sorry, I just do. I think that the gap probably should have been the closest in DCI history, because both shows are just about as good as drum corps get. I also believe SCV should have won in 88. -C Quote
aggietrumpet327 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 wrong. Now, I LOVE Phantom 89, it was absolutely incredible. Another year, and Phantom probably would have won, but there was a better corps that night. There was a reason the judges gave out the highest score in DCI history, which remained untouched for 13 years. Quote
MartinHorn Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yes Phantom 89' is one of the most amazing shows in DCI history and in Phantom Regiments history. That being said, Santa Clara Vanguard brought it that night, and blew the crowd and the judges away. Quote
Trumpeter07 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 To be perfectly honest (and blunt), I don't really think I can give an accurate choice on these shows. I'm too much of a Phantom Regiment phan. I think if PR should win a Championship with a tie; it should be 1989! First off they should won in 1996, not tie. Secondly i think PR and SCV are both as high-quality as you can get, and they, deserve to both win. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Both shows were performed wonderfully. Vanguards just has more emotion IMO Quote
Fortisimo Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Tru.dat- Their closer was friggin' brutal. It was an epic hit. Quote
E3euph Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 nope hes rite phantom 89 was amazzzzing sry bout the z's kinda tired speakin of bein tired ima go 2 sleep. Quote
Skippy Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I like Vanguard more. I still don't know how they made that giant mask appear in the middle of the field. Quote
MartinHorn Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I do have to add this, though this probably won't prove my stance that Vanguard 89 was the better show that year, If I had to show one show to someone who didn't have any idea what Drum Corps was, It would be Santa Clara Vanguard 89. Quote
Fortisimo Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Lo, yeah, it's hard to prove an opinion. So, I'm just gonna say Vanguard was better. Quote

Claritone Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 The only show better than 89 PR was 2003 PR. Quote

Lots of flashy visuals, that crazy trumpet lick in the closer, the last 10 seconds.... Quote

But if I knew nothing about music, I would've been bored most likely. If I was going to show someone their first marching music show... it would be Cavaliers 2006. Quote

Vanguard 98 was the first show I saw, and SCV's been my favorite corps since then. Quote

aggietrumpet327 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Phantom 89 closer. listen closely. I find it kind of ironic. I would have yelled, "Judges, are you LISTENING" Quote
