This thread is just a bad idea....

i think it gives everyone some insight, as to what other schools think of themselves. And it does make some ppl wanna practice more, maybe to beat that trombone section at leander, or to top the tubas at richland.

Trombone section at Leander? I think Westwood's the one to beat, if you look at the stats i gave. Not to be biased or anything. Or arrogant. >_> Besides, not many school get called a "Trombone Factory."

I didn't mean it in that way.

Here's an example. Keep in mind this is all hypothetical.

Lets pretend I go and say...

Oh our trumpets are terrible they get a D-

Trumpet from my school looks at it.

Trumpet from my school gets discouraged/pissed off....

Untampered photograph of us performing our wonderous art. I was forced to cut myself out due to the fact that it would make the picture so beautiful, it would instantly blind anyone who looked at it.

^What school? (the mention of good trombones makes me go into competetive mode haha)

eh, better that I don't say, don't wanna get in trouble with anyone at my school with giving some sections F's.

But if your name is John Pierce than they arn't near your level lol

Haha no, I'm not John (Austin) Pierce, I'm one of his two successors.

But Ryan's in it, and he's so sexy that I can barely stand to look at it!

Don't even get me started on Dustin and Sean!

The only thing that ruins this is the gayness of not have the baldricks on...I hated when they did that.

the best section in our band is the clarinets...four all staters and all of the clarinets in our top band made region. wow, i wish the entire band had as much dedication as they do. not to say that there isn't dedication in other sections or that the band is horrible we have all staters in many of the other sections but the clarinets have the most.

Daniel Hawkins? Hehe I don't know

But none of our Trombones are on the all-state level YET

1st chair, Senior - Area - 2 away from state :(

2nd chair, technically a Junior but graduating early - Region - 2 away from area

3rd chair, Sophmore - Region - ....not really close to area

Bass trombone, Junior - All-State

then we had two concert one trombones who made it and the only reason they arn't in top band at our school is because of balance issues would occur

Nope, Austin and Danny both graduated this past year, and now me (Zach Martin, junior) and Nick Dechant (sophomore) both made state (1st and 3rd chair at Area, respectively) and are ready to take their place at Westwood. I doubt we'll become as well-known as those two though, but we still have time to try.

As far as the rest of our section goes:

The other honors Trombone (senior) made Area, but was a ways off from state (he's arguably better than Nick and me, he just didn't practice cuz he said he didn't want to have to practice ever again in HS band).

We also had 2 freshmen in our 2nd band make 10th and 11th at region.

With my tie with Dynasty at Region this year for second (I lost the tie, got third), I basically did better than David Erickson in his day, before he graduated.

With that said, our section could be stronger.. much of the power lies within the hands of myself, Shannon, and Ryan (Higgins); the other eight vary. I'd give my section a B. We need more people auditioning at region as well.

Awesome, so is just the SGP district itself growing or just your band program?
