MissClarinet Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Hey, so...BOA El Paso. I know it's new this coming year and all, but does anyone know who is going or when we can find out who is going? It would be great if not only some bands in the area joined, but also some of the big bands that we all know and love; L.D. Bell, Reagan, Bowie, Churchill, Marcus, SFA, Westfield, Woodlands...and others (don't hate me if I forgot any other big bands). I'm from Bowie, but am in CO now, and well...Rampart's coming down to participate in the competition! So...if anyone knows if their school is attending, that'd be great! I'd love to get to chance to see Texas bands' shows again. Quote
MartinHorn Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Man all the way out to El Paso that's a long trip, but then again I guess it is also to San Antonio. Quote
aggietrumpet327 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Given that the El Paso Regional is on the same day as the Arlington Regional, I doubt any of the bands from Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, etc will make the trip out to El Paso. The only ones that could probably make that trip in under 10 hours are the San Antonio bands, but the drive up to Arlington is still a couple hours shorter. Quote

Hmm well it will be interesting to see the attendance there, and how the contest will turn out. Quote
aggietrumpet327 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Hopefully we'll see some of the West Texas bands, and probably some from New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. With the Flagstaff regional, the Southern California regional, and this new El Paso regional, the bands in the southwest have a lot more options than they've had before. Quote

What I'm hoping for is that a band that hasn't tried out BOA before finds that they like it and have a knack for it, and a new band program rises out of that region. (apologies to any band program in that region, I just haven't heard of you, though that isn't saying much, I haven't heard about a lot of band programs.) Quote

Yeah so....I really hope it doesn't end up being that none of the well-known bands from Texas attend. Then again, you never know what'll happen. Rampart's first time at BOA was last year at Grand Nats and they at least got into Semis. It will be interesting to see what will happen this upcoming year with them since they will be 5A and such.
