i was talking to some people who were in our band when they won Grant Nats in 03' and they were saying part of their success was due to the fact that Geiger was positive when he was out there, he movitated everyone to want to continue, and he pushed them. that made many of them want to be there to, they wanted to win not only for themselves but for their director who was willing to do anything for anyone one of them...we cant say we have that motivation from the band or directors anymore...its sad, and discourageing :(

I dont think our staff is positive enough, and their negativity is weighing down one our success.  If u have someone yelling at u constantly, and bringing you down, instead of helping you fix your problems, and giving you at least a little praise and encouragement then most people would not want to work hard and continue, to give it their all, and that is enough to make our band suffer as a whole during competitions (not getting placements we "think" we deserve).

I think this is also true. I have many friends that are/have either quitting, not doing marching season, or still thinking about whether or not to stay in because band is not fun anymore. I find it sad, but I can't really blame them.

Nope. IMO I think it is great for anybody to motivate and help anyone out even if they are not leadership. Just because someone didn't apply for leadership doesn't mean they don't have some insightful words to say; and plus, section leaders need help sometimes too. :)

well if u wanna call me that then i'll take it...along with the $8 billion

i jus like to see how everybody else handles situation since each band is unique in their own way...and plus it would be boring if we had nothing to talk about during the non-marching season time.

this is why people in america get fatter and fatter... the PE kids not getting pushed hard enough. band kids getting PE credit... in florida middle school band kids get PE credit, and they dont even march...
