barisaxy08 Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Okay...so for my senior year...i want to be able to play songs that EVERYBODY will enjoy at the football game...but it would also have to something that can get the crowd pumped up for the game. I'm struggling the perfect songs though because there are SOOO many... *hint...the crowd is very diserve... so if u had a choice...what would u want to play in the stands at football games??? i REALLLLLYYY wanna know...thanks! actualgirltrombone Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 We have one song by Earth Wind and Fire. XD I dont know if that helps though. Quote
rdzsaxplaya Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 I wouldent mind at least one hip-hop song just to shut all the people that always come up to me (since they know im in band) and say, "Why dont yall play good music! Like stuff we hear on the radio!" Omg it gets so annoying! I can find lots of reasons why we dont play that kind of stuff lol But if it was really up to me i would want maybe another Earth, Wind, and Fire song or maybe the version of "Play that Funky Music" by the Goodwin Wind Band and a Latin style song to top it off! Yup Quote
Nancy08 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Im not sure my fellow band members would agree, but we had a dance team song that I loved and wished we'd play in the stands...I believe it was Mambo, from Westside story. I also like School's Out, and Jungle Boogie. Hmm...Hey Baby's a classic...we have one called NFL that the crowd loves...yeah. Those are probably the top 5. Hope that helps. Quote
MartinHorn Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Frankenstein is an awesome song to play. Quote
bossman Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Mambo is soOoOOo sucky, i hate that piece! but i like other stuff. Quote

TRtrumpet Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 And it's just plain ANNOYING. Unless you're taking it up an octive lol. We play ALL THE SMALL THINGS (Blink 182), and the crowd seems to go for that one. Last year me and a mello friend arranged BLVD. of Broken Dreams and Dirty Little Secret and those were pretty popular too. Quote
NSUMusician Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Here's a pretty good list of songs that work REALLY well in the stands. Folks know them, football team gets hyped, fans get hyped, and they are fun to play. Back in Black - AC/DC I Want You Back - Jackson 5 Shout It Out - From Drumline (yes, it may get over played at times, but it's still a pretty awesome song to do in the stands) Get It On - Bill Chase Shut Up - Trick Daddy (I did a SHORT arrangement of it in high school and we'd play it when the other schools band would play annoying junior high stuff! It would make people from other schools MAD, but our folks LOVED it!) HeartBreaker - Pat Benatar (USC did an arrangement of it and it's pretty sweet!) 25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago Let's Groove Tonight - Earth Wind and Fire Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne Enter Sandman - Metallica (There are some arrangements out there, but I'm afraid of most arrangements of heavy metal stuff. It sometimes loses it's "heavy metal-ness" in an arrangement) So those are just a few songs that I think work really well in the stands. Most of them folks will recognize because A LOT of rap artist have sampled from those songs. There are maybe only 2 or 3 songs on there that aren't hard-core driving songs or whatever. Hope that helps. Quote

TRtrumpet Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I love "I want you back". It was in my 1st marching show. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 i love lets groove... how bout war's "low rider"??? we almost played "stand up and get crunk" but somebody told the director that rockwall played it so we didnt... Quote

It helped that the drum major directing it would do an AWESOME dance! Other than that, I always found "Smoke on the Water" and "Iron Man" to be quite fun. Quote

barisaxy08 Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 okay...so this what we usually play and the crowd is gettin pretty tired of it... Louie Louie Iron Man Aint No Holla Back Girl Smoke On The Water Mustang Sally "Go Stangs Go" etc...etc... Those songs don't really appeal to our crowd. So is there any song worth turning into a stand tune that you would want??? Cuz i can make it happen... (for my band of course) Quote
jbrih13 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I think the whole band should play the stuff pep band plays, just to adds some flavor and appeal to most of our crowd, and still play the old stuff we play for the older people that like it...balance and variety Quote
bossman Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 the amount of time for rehearsing this stuff is far too limited, that's what i've learned. Basically at many schools; the stand tunes you play arent by choice of the directors, but by choice of the drill/dance team directors. I kinda hate cuz it leaves us no time to do something that we want to do. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 people should play the song after justin timberlakes "my love" on his latest cd... dj khaled has some good band potential... how bout 7 nation army... i love white stripes Quote
ClarinetGlissandoInBlue Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Rhapsody in Blue....lol Stand up and get Crunk pinball wizard spyhunter zoot suit riot = someone should make an arrangement of this!!! good version of 007 enter sandman godzilla idk Quote

I mean let's use what we have in order to make the football games a lot more better. haha...i bet u if they liked it enough...we might be able to sit in the MIDDLE of the bleachers. Quote

bossman Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 NO NO NO, alot of ppl are just ignorant or misimformed about what is good and bad Quote
