When i was in uta's marching band, our rehearsals were from 12-2 (something like that), and i remember that if you stood in one spot for too long your shoes would start to stick to the turf.

some guy said the field temp was around 115-120, but i'm not sure if he was being serious or not.

i got a nice tan tho.

isn't turf alway ungodly hot?

That it is. Even when the weather held a slight breeze, astroturf was my least favorite to march on.

During my sophomore year of high school, it was so hot that the cymbal section made eggs on a pair of cymbals. We let it sit out on the field for about a half an hour. We were gonna go for a cinnamon roll (from those Pillsbury tubes) but we didn't think it'd go over that well.

By the way, the eggs turned out great.

is akins the band with the cavaliers drum major uni's and jed maus as a marching tech or assistant or whatever?

Count 1 - I'm not sure about that

Count 2 - Definitely not. Akins is in south Austin and Berkner (where Jed teched) is in Richardson.

our practice field is actually grass. but the ground is really uneven so every once in a while you find yourself going down an inch or two while marching. ^_^

yah, that would be one of the reasons we don't use our grass field. There's a bunch of GIANT ditches that could be potentially worse for you than marching on cement.

I remember when i was @ one school in Missouri they had this huge hole. And i was back marching at 208. Long story short the hole gave me a hug, and my contra and i were drenched in mud.

Hebron wasn't that good.

The whole DDR dance part made it evident that they spent a LOT of time on that opposed to other important parts of the show.

It was cool, but not phenominal. >_>

I can't wait to see the bands this year. I believe LD Bell is going. I heard they earned the privelage of performing last due to the win last year.

Does anyone know if Reagan is going this year? I know they dropped out of it last year.

Others that I would think would be there(who knows if they are):

Haltom.

Richland.

Keller.

Bowie.

Marcus.

Boswell.
