jacobs-latter Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 These groups don't master their music, they master their instruments. That's how they get hard music to sound easy (high stuff doesn't sound high, low stuff doesn't sound low, many people playing sounds like few due to uniformity). The idea that these groups win because their shows are easy just seems way out there. Any band COULD play any other band's music, or march any other band's drill, but how would it sound or look? whitewing09 Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 actually i could see where you could say bands have an easy show, cuz i mean it might just be me but marcus's drill looked alot easier the bell's reagan's and churchill, i cant really compare music cuz i suck at comparing that stuff but ya Quote
Fata1 Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I'm not sure who's going to win state this year but hopefully our school can make it to state. It would be our first time to go to state during marching season. We missed it by one last time. Quote
borchnork Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Hm, I think I said what I meant to say wrong, but everybody seems to have gotten the point. The music wasn't terribly difficult overall (I know simply cus our band director's little brother is in Marcus' band), but they put it at such a unqiue and amazing level that it stood out. And I watched the show again just a few minutes ago, and the drill was relatively simplistic. Right now, our woodwind section isn't looking to hot... it's starting to scare me. Quote
the terminator Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 You're directors brother!!!!!! Is that like a ten year difference? Quote
borchnork Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 uhm, yah it's like a 8 year difference I think. but close enough. His name is Steven Linley and he's 17. He played timpani last year at Marcus. Quote
borchnork Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Haha, yah I do know a lot more than I should about some people... Lol. Pit people are weird! here, they are basically the Rejects of the Rejected. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 lol, thats bad... but you gotta love the trekies and D&Ds guys... they used to play magic (the card game) in the morning... once i brought some of my old pokemon cards and tried to play with them... i got denied by the rejected... oh well... Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 lmao pokemon... yall are so mean, some people are actually good at pit stuff, ever seen reagans pit Quote
borchnork Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Haha, it is mean, but it's true. We had this Taiwanesse guy in our pit for a few years and he was amazing! everybody called him Sensai cus he was perfect at the marimba and w/e else he had to do. And pokemon. OUr band had a pokemon tournament at our spring trip this past year. Our band director joined in but he was eliminated the first round. He got really defensive too when we asked him about why he lost. lol. Quote
borchnork Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 whitewing09 said: lmao!!! wow yall make bands look nerdy... haha!! If only you knew the full details. We're very unique. lol. Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 our bands purdy normal for the most part, we do have some really really geeky people but then half of the cheerleader squad is in band so i guess it balances out? Quote
borchnork Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 we only have had 3 girls from cheerleading do band. and they both quit the squad to stay in band... so any chance of our band being "normal" is way off. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 yall have some nerdy kids at your school... Quote
borchnork Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Hahah, not really, but oh well. Does anybody have any opinions on J.J. Pearce (spelling?) and state? What area are they in? Quote
dropdeadsaxy Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 funny, most people say that most of us dont look like were in band... Quote
borchnork Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 hm, odd devin, I get it all the time. but then again, I do look the part. Quote
ddmwingz Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 im with devin on this one. most of the people that i know say the band kids dont seem like "nerds". oh, yea, and devin...i like your sig. pic. i love my section Quote
borchnork Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Like I said, I get the fact that I look like I'm in band brought up a lot. But I can see where you're coming from. We have a few of the nerdy kids that are easily classified as "band nerds" but a good number of the kids in our band don't really "fit the part" so to speak. Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 maybe yalls school is just full of nerds.... ya theres definitely a difference between regular nerd and band nerd Quote
borchnork Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 naw, we're not full of nerds. Trust me on that. But I'll ask again, does anybody have any opinions on J.J. Pearce and their shot at state? and what area are they in? Quote
