Fata1 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I don't think it matters too much. What bugs me is when we compete against a band who happens to be playing one of the same pieces as us but there arrangement is far easier. Oh well, it can't be helped. Quote
jd2012 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 that's true, good point (normally I wouldn't care about any other band but since I moved up to McKinney from HEB right before I started playing it just sticks) Quote
Donezo Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Quote I believe Sherman was playing atleast a whole movement from the 05 show Ascension And to top that off, Sherman is also playing some of the same music as Poteet. Freaky. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Haha what I thought was funny was when TCU played Niagara Falls AFTER us. lol. Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 u kno the cavies played Niagara Falls before us, right? Quote
itsstephenyo Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Geez, guys. It's marching band. Everybody plays another piece that another band played 2 years ago. There's going to be a lot of overlap. Quote

borchnork Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 ddmwingz said: u kno the cavies played Niagara Falls before us, right? and TCU played almost exactly the same arrangement. a few minor differences, but the drill was almost the same (minus the woodwinds) and the drumline and guard work were identical as well. borchnork Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 gosh, I"m going to have a heart attack... and we don't perform for another 6 hours. Quote

I'm guessing that you all should be performing within the hour. Hopefully your band does better than ours did. Our rehearsal before went smooth. Everything was going great. Then, we take the field for performance and things go wrong. Complete disaster. In fact, if we get a 2, I wouldn't be surprised. Quote
the ridge emily Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 fossil ridge and saginaw and azle all got one's today at region so were all going to oddessa!!yaaah!!! Quote
the terminator Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 Quick recap from region 24. As a 4A all you need to know is everyone got a 1, The Colony, Frisco, Little Elm, Lake Dallas, and Centennial all got 1's which definately helps Area B a little. The Colony looked very impressive, after today I think they will make state for sure, Frisco a little shaky I don't understand the show very much and the music is kind of weak but still got a 1, Little Elm looked pretty good not much competition but they did do their job to get a 1, Lake Dallas is much improved from years past everything they did was very nice definately deserved it, Centennial the show was very strong BUT still incomplete b/c it only took 6 minutes and I didn't see the 180 tempo they were talking about, really need to get it together this week but well done. So there you go Region 24 takes care of their business now we wait for the other bands. As for my school the judges loved us (wakeland 3A) we could have added some dynamic contrast but other than that it was great Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Yea we cut the 4th movement this week because our show lasted 8:01 minutes on friday night so this week we're going to practice pushing the tempo and quickening the transfers of the show. BTW There's no way we're going 180... its gonna be more like 172, but still, it is a beast for us. Quote
Fata1 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Southwest High School - Division II Just got the results from a friend. I guess marching season is over for us this year. I still can't believe we went from an amazing performance last night at the football game to a division II performance at UIL today. Oh well. At least I still have another shot in two years. Quote
