borchnork
Yah, we saw them at Duncanville last year, and I wasn't highly impressed. They beat us, but I'm not quite sure what everybody else thought.
whitewing09
so confusing for some reason i have no clue about anything in 4A
borchnork
Really?? 4A is ... well it's obviously not 5A level competition, but it's amazingly fun. Hopefully this forum helps? If it makes you feel any better, I hadn't heard of a lot of these 4A bands (like Connally and Hendrickson) until reading this post.
crazyjakeup
i only know a little bit about 4a... OOOooo... i wonder if rowlett can beat duncanville within the next two years???
borchnork
Duncanville is an amazing high school (it's like a mini town!) Maybe Rowlett could. It's always possible in the world of Texas Bands.
the terminator
Come to think of it, I haven't ever seen Ducanville

whitewing09
i disliked their 2004 show it was so boring i only know the Austin 4A bands like Conally Henderickson Lake Travis etc
crazyjakeup
yeah they stick to the basics and do them with extream accuracy... they have been doing that longer than anyone... i think they are top 3 at state for the last 20 some years... borchnork
Yah at the DMI when they were announced they said: "Please welcome in exhibition, the ONLY 5A band to have made state for the past 15 consecutive years, The Duncanville (w/e the mascot it) Marching band!!" it wasn't an impressive show (musically entertaining wise), but they did it really really well. whitewing09
ehh in my opinion marching band is more then just being clean
borchnork
true, but being clean is the foundation that you should start with. I'd rather watch a flawless safe performance than a sloppy mess w/ a cool show idea.
crazyjakeup
yeah and for those who think that we have whats called BOA...
borchnork
unless your director is purely UIL oriented.

borchnork
sadly enough. I'd kill to go to boa over state.....
whitewing09
yeah and for those who think that we have whats called BOA... not really go look at the bell show on youtube many people agree that they would have won if their drill was a little cleaner
the terminator
sadly enough. I'd kill to go to boa over state..... Same here, I have never seen any of those top bands close up b/c we don't go to any major competitions. Still we are trying to persuade our director to do so, b/c we don't have state for the next two years
whitewing09
whys that?
borchnork
they are 3A again this year, and next year they'll be 4A, so they'll miss out...
crazyjakeup
not really go look at the bell show on youtube many people agree that they would have won if their drill was a little cleaner yes but boa has the "GE" catagory that uil doesnt have... technecly you dont even need color guard if you just do uil...
