SerialSleeper90 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I'm thinking wakeland or timberview will get be best Div. III. As for Div. II... i dunno. It's gonna be tough. I'm gonna go with Sherman. Div. I Is all speculation for me as I have not seen any of the big bands or heard much about their placements, but I'm going to guess Plano East or Allen. I know they have pretty solid marching institutions. Its too bad the colony is a div higher than the rest of the 4A contenders. This competition is going to be really interesting for me. I'm looking forward to seeing Timberview (they beat us LE, but I didn't get a chance to watch them), Sherman, Dripping Springs, Frisco, and all of the 5A Bands. Also, it'll be really cool to see how much Aledo and The Colony have improved (even though it'll be after area). Quote
Fata1 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I wish we could've gone to this. Our school is like dead poor though. I'm pretty sure we would win the award for smallest facility. Anyway, I'll be interested to see how Aledo and Sherman do. Mostly Aledo, though. Quote
borchnork Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 I heard a rumor that they may hafta change the location because Memorial Stadium was not big enough to hold everybody. crazy! Quote
the terminator Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 It isn't big enough especially with Allen, PHP maybe??? even though that's not the best place for marching band Quote

Pizza hut park... *my mom's on the board that's coordinating the contest* What we would hafta do w/ memorial was have the bands that performed earlier sit on the visitors side of Memorial, and they wouldn't be allowed to sit in the home section. So PHP seems like the best option. but I hear there's quite a bit of conflict... Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 THERE'S NO YARD TICKS!!! right? i think i'm right... there's something about the PHP field that kinda screws with bands. Quote
the terminator Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 that really sucks b/c my band performs early Quote
borchnork Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 I don't know, but I hate the fact that it's solid concrete underneath the turf at PHP. It hurts to march on... Quote
the terminator Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 truth be told they need to returf the field at Memorial soon b/c it's getting pretty bad. At least PHP is really nice grass. Our JV field right now is better and we are lucky that they let us practice on it now b/c it's getting so dark Quote
Band Of Champions Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Dang that sucks, hopefully they get the location worked out to something decent. I don't want all the bands to injure like half their people lol. Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Well I mean PHP isn't that bad. Non-marching wise its an awesome facility. MLS games and many major Rock/Country concerts are held there. Its definitely more than decent. Marching-wise its just something many aren't use to. Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 PHP does not, in fact, yard ticks. last game that screwed up quite a few people in our band. Quote
Band Of Champions Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Don't they have to get yard ticks to be a legit competition? Quote
borchnork Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 they usually do have yard ticks. I was thrown off because I was actually USED to seeing them on the field. Quote
Band Of Champions Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 So why did they not have them that one time you marched there? Quote
ddmwingz Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 ah...my mistake. its a soccer stadium, and there was a soccer game there the night before. they will most likely have yard ticks at the competition. sorry for the confusion Quote
borchnork Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Yah, it's not going to be at PHP. It's still at memorial And uhm... what else? OH YAH! Pizza! One of the kids in band's dad owns Double Dave's Pizza... so that's what we're serving. I got to sample the pizza today. =] Quote

OT: So... Sherman is going to be there, I know that for a fact, because it's the only show I'm going to march this year because I failed at the six weeks and my director's messed up in the head and is letting a FISH keep my spot! Also, is all this pizza talk what we are going to have after prelims? I LOVED Allen's show last year. Especially when the "explosion" occurred. I saw it at least three times last year, it was great fun. Quote

David Kohlman's dad owns it, I remember, because we were talking about it when the tuba/euph section went to ihop during the beginning of marching season. Edit: And yeah... I guess that answers the other question which is... yeah... the freshman David, not "Zeus." Quote
