borchnork Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 yah, well when you only listen to classical music, something like MCR is a huge eye opener. Quote
borchnork Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 ehh, it's true, but I haven't listened to MCR or any rock ish music since. Quote
whitewing09 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 i wanna talk to someone from bowie for some reason anywho listen to.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm no clue Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 You, my friend, which you really are my friend cuz we actually know each other, are missing out. I'm not really talking about MCR but modern music in general (and I don't mean Whitacre). So you just said you don't listen that much to rock, i'm not sure about pop or techno, I'd laugh pretty hard if I saw you bustin' it out to "pop lock and drop it", but there's something to be loved in every genre of music. The only genre I haven't liked yet is country but I'm sure there's something underneath that underwood, mcgrath, honkey-tonk crap that could appeal to me. If you think about it the roots of many types could be stemmed from Classical... and maybe African tribal music? O and i guess ancient Chinese stuff, too...ugh nvm. Quote
borchnork Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 yah... basically. haha, when you mentioned Modern music... weird, But I instantly thought of Whitacre, Tichelli and Daugherty... god, I need to expand my horizons Quote

thesnareguy Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Any kind of rock other than old-style Linkin Park = Quote

I know they aren't the greatest band in the world, but they were like my "gateway band" into music. Therefore, they hold a special place in my heart. lol. So I understand when ppl say they suck and all that, not exactly the most original band, but being called old style is kinda... odd. I have no idea where you get that. I say everyone should have "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole' on their playlist. Its just so wonderful... Quote
thesnareguy Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I like the "Hybrid Theory" & "Meteora" Linkin Park. They changed to the crap rock style with "Minutes to Midnight." They said so themselves in an interview. Quote
T-ratbowieband Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 I personally myself like old classic rock. or something like '70s hard rock. like van halen, ac/dc, iron maiden, etc... to me the new stuff just doesn't sound good. Quote
crazyjakeup Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 i like judas priest, ac/dc, heart(guilty pleasure),... 80's stuff was cool, like motly crue, some twisted sister, white snake, skid row, and the late 80's early 90's stuff was cool too like GnR, nervana, metalica, etc... nowdays i like bloc party(which i'm going to see in september...maybe), 30 seconds to mars, artic monkeys, afi, some all-american rejects, some fall out boy, and some mcr and LP... Quote
SerialSleeper90 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 while we're at it I guess I'll say some of my fav bands/artists LP (just said so lol), blood brothers, fall of troy, postal service, reel big fish, daft punk, something corporate, alkaline trio, muse, and after watching this awesome bboy video to Yanni Tiersen's stuff I've been in love with that, too. Quote
borchnork Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 believe it or not but I do have some favorites there... Muse, MCR and 30 seconds to mars are up there for me. anything Else, I'm pretty much clueless on though. Quote
