borchnork Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 that's pretty cool. Who writes drill for them, cus that looks very similar to something that the drill writer for the Cavaliers would write. Quote

I believe he marched with the Cavaliers in the early 90's. Quote
borchnork Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 that makes sense I guess. It had that very classic look of straight lines rotating, and arcs/circles forming into lines. Something I've come to recognize since Mike Gaines started writing for us. Quote
steve709 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I think Edinburg North is doing some music from the romantic era, Some Debussy and maybe even some Ginestera. That program is getting back on its feet, this year should be their first step on their way back to their place at the top of the RGV. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 QUOTE (steve709 @ Aug 24 2007, 03:21 PM) I think Edinburg North is doing some music from the romantic era, Some Debussy and maybe even some Ginestera. That program is getting back on its feet, this year should be their first step on their way back to their place at the top of the RGV. They were really good in the late 90s/early 00s. I had a realtive in the "TOP" era ENHS band, and one in their right now. If they can regain that power and intensity from 2001, then watch out for them. It would seem that most valley bands are leaning more towards the visual aspect rather than musical... and now for a quick end-of-summer commentary on some RGV bands. -Harlingen HS' music is boring, but i know they will pull something out of their hat. -Harlingen South 2007 program looks promising from the drill i've seen. -Hanna HS' BUGZ show seems interesting, but i have not seen or heard it yet. -Edinburg HS is keeping thing under wrap, but from what i hear its a Radio theme [crossmen 2006?] -Sharyland has their Romeo and Juliet show so that should be interesting... -Donna HS' show is a classical cartoon show, it has some tough licks and fast drill... think Velvet Knights 1992. i may be a bit biased but they should do good. More to come eventually Quote

I am PROBABLY headed down to the Valley this week (assuming funds and everything turn out good), and if I am, I will check out the Edinburg vs Sharyland game. What I saw from Sharyland 2 weeks ago was actually pretty wicked. Can't really say too much since it was their first performance at that time, but if it all comes together, that show is going to be killer. Best of luck to them on that... I had heard that Edinburg was having problems with music for the drumline during the summer...something along the lines of them not receiving it at all. Hope all turned out OK for them...not having any drum parts for a show is rather horrid, especially for the sake of keeping time. Quote
